Anti-pitbull?

My big question is, why are people so anti-pitbull? They see a dog that resembles a pitbull and they panic and freak out, it’s rediculous. I wonder how many people know that half the attacks blamed on pitbulls, aren’t even pitbulls; It’s alot easier to blame it on a pitbull than to actually figure out what the dogs breed IS. Take a look at this little quiz, just for example (there are some breeds you can OBVIOUSLY tell aren’t pitbulls) but it really gives an idea, to an eye of a person who isn’t familiar with the breed, it can take some time, http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

Another piece of info that I find quite interesting is this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smNTThrsNMg
It shows just how often they are confused and blamed, wrongfully might I add.
ANY DOG CAN ATTACK, and it’s time the world starts to realize this. Bad owners, not bad dogs. I am annoyed of reading "I got attacked, and it was a pitbull", "a pitbull bit me" etc… Am I the only one fed up???
I understand yes the media and everything else, but it is truly a royal pain in the A$$
I totally saw that one Jewel and thats what ticked me off tonight, lol… I am short fused I guess!!!

But really, if a pitbull was to attack, it wouldn’t go after a person first, it would go after another animal, thats what they were originally bred for is to fight other animals(and believe it or not, originally to fight rats!), not people. Now dogs that were bred to attack people, german shepard (police dogs), Dobermans ect.
I wish I could find that list I had before it showed the top dogs to attack people, and like the top 5 had labs, retreviers, dalmations… what all these people consider "FAMILY" dogs…

no i have a full blooded short bodied pit…. he is the sweetest thing in the world… he is gret with my 19month old too…. i dont say all pitts are bad… some are…. so are some huskies… and shoot, have you ever really met a sweet taco bell dog??? those little ankle bitters are evil…. dont blame the bread of dog blame the owner…. just the same with bratty children… who raised um that way… nobody is born evil same with dogs… they are created….. but the sterotype help to keep thieves out the house since all my dog would do is lick them to death..to dr doolittle… i got my dog from a shelter… they just take longer to adopt out since they train them and you need to sign a waiver first

no you’re not alone. but the media has fed this paranoia for too long. i often wonder what it would take to change peoples minds.

i know. but all we can do is try to educate and point out the facts. like Petey on the Little Rascals was a pit. etc.

This question has been asked 400,0000,0000000 times. People on this site are either influenced by the media or are only against irresponsible pitbull owners.

because a lot of people are stupid, they listen to the media like it is the word of god, i have been bit by a pit and i still don’t get scare or freak out by them, that is why dalmatians have the highest bit rate, parents watch 101 dalmatians and think they can let their kid pet any dog that has spots.

Its not the pit bull. Its how it is raised. Just like any other dog. Sadly, a lot of animal shelters don’t adopt out pits the automatically euthanize them.

no your not the only one fed up by far! i gave her my 2 sense and really was glad she wasn’t in front of me . I’m owned by a pibble and hes the joy of my life , he adores ppl and other animals . i think so many ppl on here have way to much time on their hands and love drama and when they pick on my favorite breed they get it from me . did you see the one OMG I WAS ATTACKED BY A PIT BULL and she left the scene , there was zero blood , now she wants to report it , dollar signs and media , i told her so to . leave my pibbles alone and get a life , ya know ?

Probably because if you see a Chocolate Lab at the store, you’re not going to go home and do tons of research to find out whether it’s a South Brazillian Hunting Hound or just a purebred Labrador. Some people just aren’t dog savvy and don’t think twice before calling a dog resembling a pitbull, a pitbull. That, and you hardly get a good look at a dog when it’s attacking you, other than general build and coat color and length.

I stay away from pitbulls, to tell you the truth. I will NOT assume that they are all sweet and loveable because around here, people aren’t very proactive in training their dogs. One time I tried to convince myself that a pitbull walking on the sidewalk was harmless. I greeted it and it flattened its ears and growled.

So it’s not like I absolutely hate them and throw rocks at them, just for my safety I stay away from them because they tend to attract the wrong types of people from many people. Not all the time but enough to make me cautious.

I have had several pit bulls and my wife also had one- they are wonderful loving dogs- I agree it is the person not the dog that is mean- it is too bad that the dog has to be put down because of its owner– too bad the owner does not have to be put down for treating an animal so cruel,

i totally agree i own an american pitbull terrier and a mini schnauzer i never leave either one alone with my children and although they have never bit i know it is possible which is why they are always supervised when inside which is most of the time i hate when people auttomatically think my pitbull is viscious he has never met a stranger and would probably help someone carry out the tv if my house was ever broke into he even likes my cats he used to try to clean them when they were kittens lol does that sound like a dangerous dog to you i didnt think so and i got the pitbull on my second guess but it does prove that even someone who owns a pit can asily mistake another type of dog for one lol

a lot of people are always saying pitbulls are such horrible dogs. in reality, a lot of the attacks by pitbulls can be blamed on its owners. there’s a neighbor of mine who owns two pitbulls and they are the sweetest things becuz he grew them up in love. however, i know of a next neighbor whose dogs were taken away from him becuz as a result of him always training the dogs 2 attack, they mauled a german shepherd 2 death just becuz it passed too close 2 their gate. dogs, no matter what breed, grow up the way they are trained to by their owners. and a lot of time pitbulls are being put down becuz they are extremely powerful dogs and so when it attacks, it doesn’t stop. but once they are trained properly, they are able to control themselves and if i may say so myself, are one of the most lovable breeds i know

I AGREE 100%.
did you know in some states there are pit bulls for police dogs? They use to be banned here in Cincinnati,OH
but they lifted the ban due to people catigorizing the dogs. the only way you can not have one is if it has bit someone but i have two and they are our babys they are nice loving and loyal. I beleive the only way they would hurt some one is if that person was to hurt one of us or the kids.
