is there a way to overcome or cope with anxiety and panic attacks without meds? If so how? Like any natural things to do if get a panic attack or worrying so much and not on meds?

My counselors told me something SO helpful that I actually stopped having panic attacks.

So lets start with this, yeah theres breathing exercises. The second you feel it coming on, ignore it and focus on breathing, steading and slow.

But this is what she told me

"A panic attack lasts only about 2-5 minutes."

:)

It might not have the same effect on you, but after I heard that I was fine. 2-5 minutes. That’s not so scary anymore. It seems small and insignificant, so nothing to be scared of.

You can email me if you need anything.
Goodluck. =]

Breathing exercises, meditation, exercise and a healthy diet.

Yes there is. I suffer from both and have done the meds and decided they are not for me. They way that I can "real" myself in is by breathing. If I feel an attack coming on, I will sit in a quiet area and take long deep breaths for about 3 minutes. I will think of a nice place and just breath…. it does work. Also excercise. That was the hardest part for me, because my anxiety is a fear of dying, so I did not want to over exert myself. It has taken a while, but I have not had a panic/anxiety attack in a few months. Of course, some have started to creap, but I quickly put them in check!

Good luck!

I’ve had panic attacks on and off for over 40 years…

Believe it or not, somehow they’re triggered [ in my case] by excess gas in the stomach!

I’ve had them come on slow [thinking > brooding > worrying > panicking] or fast [even waking me from sleep]

Doctors usually say the anxiety causes the gastric distress, but I think the gastric distress causes the anxiety… Never had one doctor agree with me yet…

I never have any sensation of the gas, I’ve just trained myself to try to burp if I’m feeling antsy, etc. If I can belch, I take a Mylanta Gas and keep on belching, usually works in 30 minutes or less… [instead of Mylanta you could just try burping on your own, or whatever natural cures for relieving stomach gas there are...]

I never think it will work, but it ALWAYS has…

[In my case the upset stomach is usually caused by post nasal drainage from an allergy sometimes after taking pseudo-ephedrine]

Try it, it couldn’t hurt, and it might just help….
