Anyone see PBS’s documentary on Joan Baez this week on American Masters?

How good was this show?! Her voice is one of an angel and she still sounds as good as when she was young. And the part where Bob Dylan talks about "Diamond And Rust" lyrics, how the words still move him, was illuminating since there seems to be some bad blood when she talks about him (just my opinion) and he doesn’t seem to show emotions normally.

I was disappointed the documentary doesn’t include her singing "Sweet Sir Galahad" (unless I missed it). And I was under the misconception that she had become a lesbian…and wondered why it wasn’t mentioned on the show…but now I google the topic and see I must have gotten that impression because she’s done concerts and campaigned for lesbian rights. She has referred to herself as bi but has not really had lesbian relationships, except one short term long time ago.

I never knew how she started out and how she sang with her sister and her family’s role in her becoming an activist. Her mother was arrested with her a few times. Her honest need to help people is so evident….it’s never been about self-promotion. Her entire life has been one of being true to herself. The part about her relationship with her sister and her panic attacks, but how her sister would help her, was interesting.

I enjoyed it so much and would love to hear if anyone else felt the same?

skyblooms I had seen it before and thought it was a really good show.
