Lately I been getting panic attacks when I drive over a bridge what should i do?

Okay I always been little afarid of bridges as child, it was always small fear, like driving off or it breaking.

But lately my new job i have to go cross a 5 mile bridge and each time im getting more and more scared i cant even breath cause im afarid i might drive off!

any tips to overcome? It wasn’t bad as child but as adult… and me driving

This may sound like a scam and you don’t have to try it. I quickly researched the words "driving over a bridge phobia " and found a bunch of site’s so your not alone. This one seemed cool so check it out. There are more just google it…

I have to pass 6 bridges a day to get to home and back anytime I go out since I live near many rivers.

If there’s no car in front of me I drive a little bit faster and count in my head.

If you’re in NY, be happy they just redid ALL of the bridges in ALL of NY state (and NYC) 1 yr ago, to make sure everything was in good working order.

Before you get on to the bridge, take a deep breath and start counting out loud.

Concentrate on the numbers and keep counting until your at the other side. It’s simple and it does work. It helps keep your mind off the fact your on a bridge and more on the next number.

    I hope this helps

I have never had problems with Bridges, but had panic, anxiety none the less. I also had a lot of fear about heights too.

A really good technique to do through the days is:

Breath in deeply through the nose, hold a second then breathe out slowly out the mouth, then hold a second, then repeat. Keep doing this for a few minutes.

I have done this in the past and it does lessen\get rid of that panic state:

After you have finished doing the breathing method, break out into a big smile (I know it maybe a false one, but just do it and see the results), and put on your favourite CD and sinf out loud to it. Pretty soon you will notice that your state has changed.

Other methods that have helped me get to the root cause, was that a friend suggested some NLP techniques and then that led me to EFT, which is really easy and very powerful at getting rid of unwanted negative emotion. Well it worked very well for me any way. If you want to try it out, then check out http://www.emofree.com (it’s free). You can also search on Youtube for EFT and panic attacks (or anxiety), then you can see and read about it. The only way you will know if it works for you is to do it then test for yourself.

The only other method I have heard of that worked on panic attacks is at this website –

A family member used it and it worked really well for them. It has been my experience and that of many others that you can get rid of those unwanted emotionally reactions. You need to figure out which method best works for you now.
