First off, I do have anxiety…. and i know irregular heartbeats are common in people who have it. BUT, the fact is i KNOW that some of these abnormal heart beats are not due to my anxiety because i get them all the time, even when im not stressed or having a panic attack. It doesnt matter what im doing, sitting, resting, eating, ect i get them regardless.
Sometimes it seems like i dont get them for a long period of time, than all of a sudden ( usually around the time of my period ) the irregular heart beats come and go for a long duration. Some days its on and off all day. Like it has been for the past week or so now.
When i do get the irregular beats, i do feel lightheaded, nausious, and almost feel like i cant breath all that well. It freaks the heck out of me !
Sometimes the irregularites only last a couple seconds, sometimes longer . But on average, its a couple irregular beats every hour or so. ( when its really bothersome )

Other times, for no apparent reason my heart will " jump" and feel like its pounding in my chest very hard, and pauses, than " restarts" …
And at other times, it feels like a very weak heartbeat ( hard to explain ) but it just seems weaker than the " normal " beats i have.

Like i said, i know anxiety can cause these. But it just doesnt make sence that i get them even when relaxed.
I have had tests done in the past, and nothing really came back.
But still, ive been dealing with these for over 10 yrs ( im 32 now )
and im just tired of them.
What could be causing them, and should i worry?
Is there anyone out there who has this?????
BTW, i have had the holter monitor, ECG, stress test done in the past …… but no apparent explination….
how the heck can these heart irregularities be normal.

While I am not a doctor (yet, haha), it sounds like palpitations to me. If you have already been monitored, and you were cleared, then it is a benign event when it occurs. That’s not to say it isn’t occurring, just that it’s not dangerous. If you didn’t have any of the episodes during a time you were being monitored, then you should be re-monitored until you are sure your heart has been recorded during an episode.

you might have a medical problem passed through your family go to your doctor it could be serous or not determining on your results:if you explain what is going on with your heart with it being abnormal on its beating he will put a heart monitor you and have you write done every time this is happening to you while the machine is on your chest its like a small box.if anything wrong then he will tell. its not a painful procedure i assure you.

Probably just pvc’s or pac’s, very common with an anxiety disorder. You may also have sinus arrhythmia which means your heart speeds up when you breath in and slows down as you breath out. That is also common with anxiety as it seems to make the vagus nerve more sensitive. If you had a holter monitor and it caught the "event" when you felt the irregular beats and your doctor is not concerned then you should not be either. If it did not catch it you may need an event monitor instead. My vote is for anxiety, you probably have a healthy heart.

you have a heart problem

you are having irregular palpitations at rest which is serious

you are also having dyspnea ( almost feel like i cant breath )

it is not normal

get an echocardiography of your heart done

that will tell the cause of your dyspnea and palpitations

you most likely have a problem in your heart valves

consult a good cardiologist and get an echo at the earliest

you will most likely need to be treated for the heart problem

I’m not a doctor but agree with all other comments on this page. Have you ever tried to cough when you have these palpitations? If your heart is in a Very rapid rhythm this could help cardiovert it back into a regular rhythm, however medical attention is needed. My husband has what they call WPW (wolf parkens white) and had the exact same symptoms and eventually had to have what they call a cardiac ablation.

I have learned from personal expirence that doctors are really quick to diagnose you with panic disorder. Its bull crap I know, but it happened to me. They were right about the panic disorder, but what they all failed to realize was that I got panic attacks because my heart skipped beats about 5 times per hour! The funny thing is is that my problem was something very simple. Magnesium deficiency! I have been taking magnesium supplements for 2 weeks now twice a day and my palpitations have literally vanished. My quality of life is back and have not had another panic attack since then. Funny how something so simple can cause your heart to do crazy things. Try it, it worked for me!
