My 12 year old daughter gets this feeling of not being able to breath and thinking her throats swelling up. Shes very healthy and active and a normal child. I use to get panic attacks but learnt to handle them and think about something else. M y daughter keeps asking is she going to die and im getting really worried. Her mom says to her everything is ok and i say calm down but i know how it feels. Whats the best thing to do and what could be causing this.

yes its completely possible, i have a very close friend who suffered the same symptoms.
However as far as I am aware there is nothing that can get rid of it, but you can let her undergo all sorts of help so that it doesnt occur as often.
my advice would be to seek help from a specialist.

Good luck

Kids of all ages can get panic attacks, but you should seriously get her checked out to figure out what is actually going on.

Yes, of course a 12 yr old can get panic attacks. Talk to her about her worries – don’t dismiss them. Maybe she’s read something, heard something, seen a film, or is upset by the daily news. Try to find out. Get professional help if you feel you need to.

It isnt normal but my friend at 15 had the same thing she still has it but it isnt as bad now. She had to go to a doctor who would just talk everything through with her. I think it really helped her so it would maybe help your daughter too before it gets worst. Just be calm when she does have the panic attacks and calm her down too. hope it helps

I had them when i was 11 im 13 and now have a diagnosed panic disorder. Your daughter is lucky you have payed attention my parents didn’t care at first. I felt like i was going to die when i had my first one at 11 and i still do but im slowly getting better. Anything can cause it really, stress, bullying, family problems, mines caused by the thought of death.

all the best to your daughter i hope she gets better soon!

that’s when mine started. so it’s hereditary for your daughter?!
there’s a technique called TFT tapping that might solve the problem in a very short time.
most traditional therapists will probably blow it off but i’ve used it to overcome anxiety issues.
you can see it in action on youtube.
i have several books that contain the subject. even one that is totally devoted to it called The Tapping Cure by Roberta Temes,Phd.
traditional therapy helped me little.plus i hate it. NLP and TFT were quick and easy to eliminate my anxiety and phobias.

Have you checked with our doctor?
There are some natural products that I use which work.
