Can exercise help alleviate a panic attack?
Since your body is producing an excess of adrenaline, would it help to get it out of your system by exercising?
Not necessarily. Bear in mind that exercise often enervates and encourages the release of adrenaline. This is why a young male cannot run around the track and maintain an erection…adrenalin will stifle arousal.
Endorphins can offset some but it’s not likely to work out as an even swap.
It’s a good idea to deal with a chronic (ongoing) condition resulting in anxiety-induced states on that condition’s own merits. Exercise can help stabilize a person, generally speaking, but it’s not going to replace modern medicine.

Exercise also helps by helping you to avoid the high anxiety in advance. It’s a lot tougher to come down after that panic has started. If you’re feeling anxious, go for a run. I go for a ride on my scooter, and even that seems to help.

Actually the complete opposite is true. When having a panic attack it is important to relax, close your eyes, breathe in and out slowly while concentrating on your breath and the rise and fall of your ribs and stomach. If outside noise makes this difficult listen to soothing music or white noise (which can be downloaded of the Internet). Exercise on the other hand pumps up the adrenaline further, increasing the panic symptoms. However, if you find yourself depressed, exercise raises serotonin and adrenaline levels and fights off the blues. Studies have shown that people with Manic Depression can be controlled without the use of drugs by having them practice meditation when in an excitable state, and engaging in exercise while depressed.

During a panic attack, no, it can’t help. But exercise can help you reduce or prevent panic attacks from happening because it releases your body of excess energy and tensions. It helps me a lot!
