Can you join the military if you have had panic attacks or depression?

I am not asking for reccomendations, etc. However, does anyone know, for sure, if the military prohibits individuals from joining based on having panic attacks or depression in the past? Does anyone know someone who has been rejected for this?
Edit 2: this would be for the Marine Corps, female…i.e.-no combat situations

I am a woman veteran and I went to Desert Storm…so don’t think that the women are that much protected from combat. We don’t go to infantry, but we still go to where they are fighting and you will still be at risk.

Modern military women are in harms way right now. It is just as stressful for women as it is for men. Women do most of the same jobs as men and go through the same training. I do admit there are a few jobs that some men-only have that will be more tougher, but don’t get the idea that the military is easier on women.

As for the depression/panic attacks, getting a medical waiver will be very hard. It really depends on how long ago and what type of treatment was used. Most of the time the answer will be no. There are a few case-by-case situations where you can get a waiver…but it is not very likely.

If you have a history they will look at that. If you still require meds then no.

Only if you tell them. But with that history why would you want to join the military? Believe me…there are plenty of stressful things besides combat and basic. For example, promotion boards are VERY stressful, purposely, so that they can weed out people who might freak out in certain situations. You really need to think about this.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
