Is there any natural way to relieve my anxiety & panic attacks without taking pills?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Tell me what has helped you.

Sip some chamomille tea.
Put a few drops of Kava Kava extract in a cup of tea.
Bathe in water with a few drops of Lavender oil and play soothing music or listen to a meditation cd. Light candles, turn off the electric lights and burn patchouli incense.
Drink a glass of red wine
Regular exercise works wonders
No caffeine or energy drinks
Deep breathing
Read something comforting like a favorite book from years ago, even a children’s book.
Comfort your inner child.
Snuggle up with a soft cover
Sit outside
Walk in the grass, barefoot
get some alone time
yoga
fish oil helps the part of your brain that makes you feel better
gardening
take an afternoon nap
If your attacks are brought on by work, you may need to rethink our entire lifestyle. But only when you are feeling a bit better.
If you can afford it, you can get a massage.

Can switching from zoloft to the generic brand cause panic attacks and anxiety?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I have been taking zoloft for about 1 year for panic attacks and depression. I had been feeling great again. About 2 weeks after i switched from the name brand zoloft to the generic brand I started feeling anxious and nervous again and had 2 panic attacks for no apparant reason. I was becoming more tired and irritable, more than usual. They only thing I could think of was the switch in medications. I thought those days of anxiety and panic were over. Please help.

It shouldn’t matter. Sertraline, the generic of Zoloft must be AB equivalent to brand name Zoloft in the "orange book" in order for it to be therapeutically equivalent. Usually the change is psychological because the FDA requires the generic to be exactly the same as the brand name. if it makes you feel better, go back to brand name. but, it will be more expensive.

Where does social anxiety and panic attacks come from?

Where does social anxiety and panic attacks come from?
Why did I started having them about 3 years ago? What are some
things that can cause them? I think first I had social anxiety, than after a while I started having panic attacks. And after unable to socialize with people normally and started having agorophobia which lead to depression. But where did social anxiety came from what caused it? What could be the factors?

Fear.
Real and unreal. Rational and unrational. See you doctor…he can prescribe something for that. There is no need to feel that way anymore so go and see him. Your life will change dramatically. It is a very common thing you have.

Why would my doctor put me on Zoloft if it is "precribed for depression" and I went for anxiety/panic attacks?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Ive been taking the Zoloft two months now. My anxiety and panic attacks are the same if not worse. I dont understand why I would be put on this and not given something like I have been told about Xanax? How do I talk to my doctor about getting on something for my panic attacks?

~Zoloft works for Depression, Anxiety and Panic Attacks. Obviously it’s not helping you, so you should talk to your doctor about trying something different. Just tell him you would like to try Xanax, you heard good things about it, make sure he knows how hard it is for you to deal with panic attacks.
Xanax is only temporary. Your body builds up a tolerance to it really quick. Usually it’s prescribed until the drug you’re taking starts working.
If you can’t talk to your doctor about your feelings, take someone with you, who can speak for you.
I’m sorry about the panic attacks, I have them too. I have a link below for you on Xanax. Good luck to you.~

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Going through a very, very, rough time right now and am having severe anxiety. Very close to a panic attack and I’m scared. My DR will not prescribed anything other than Prozac and that isn’t helping although taken for several years. Looking for something natural, (I will continue with Prozac) it’s the only way I can do this.

you can give up caffeine.
sorry, that is the only thing that i am sure will help.

How can I stop anxiety…panic attacks?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

I keep getting anxiety…little panic attacks…had been drinking lots of beer most of the summer… stopped drinking on sunday…still feel not good at all. How long will the anxiety last? How long will it take for body to come back to normal?

May be a good idea to stop alcohol until this is resolved. Try relaxation and breathing techniques. This website has some self-treatment suggestions:

http://www.self-improvement-advice.org/dealing-with-anxiety-attacks.html

Also, experiences of people who are in situations similar to you, and how they tried to resolve it:

You may also want to check with a professional. He or she may help you find the underlying cause of your anxiety/fear, and put you on the way to recovery, through medications and/or therapy.

Hope you find those resources helpful. Good wishes.

Anyone had a baby while suffering from anxiety/panic attacks?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

I suffered badly from this, still not ‘cured’ but back working again etc just wondered if anyone has any similar experiences to this and had a baby and how they coped with everything.

try taking passionflower
The first thing you need to do is support your adrenal glands with the supplements below:
Vitamin C (2,000-4,000 mg/day)
Vitamin E w/mixed tocopherols (800 IU/day)
Vitamin B100 complex
Pantothenic acid (1200-1500 mg/day)
Magnesium citrate (800-1200 mg)
Liquid trace minerals
Adrenal Glandular
Two excellent herbs that will support your adrenal glands and give you immediate relief are Ashwagandha and Siberian ginseng. Ashwagandha has been shown to have a sedating effect on the body and helps to rebuild the digestive and nervous system. I especially like using it to help me fall asleep when I’m feeling restless at bedtime. Siberian ginseng has been used traditionally to stimulate and nourish the adrenal glands and increase mental alertness.
As most panic attacks are caused by a dive in blood sugar you should then drink a glass or two of diluted fruit juice (all fruit no sugar) or eat a banana.

i was put on zoloft for anxiety & panic attacks, but now panic gone, but i’m really depressed, is this normal?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

i wasn’t depressed before taking the medication, but now my motivation and energy are depleted…i’m not experiencing the terrible anxiety or panic attacks anymore (i still get anxious, but it’s normal)…has anyone else experienced this?

You need to see or call your doctor. You need a different antidepressant. I wouldn’t delay.

Why do we get different symtoms from anxiety or panic attacks for instead of the same symtoms we usully get?

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

like when you first get a panic attack or when you start to get anxiety and you been suffering the symtoms everyday but then they cange up on you like you never felt that symtom before. why is that why can’t they stay the same like we been gettin? instead of something new all the time like you been used to the symtoms and you can cope with it cause you already know what it is but when you get a new symtom its like "oh crap what is this"? i hate that.

Anxiety is bad enough. Other factors so to say "store" anxiety in your body, and keep storing it till it grows BIG and STRONG, and when it cant hold it in, it floods it out of your body all at once, as a panic attack. i know what u mean though. for me, schizophrenia bipolar, right when i have it under control, the meds cause another problem. you just get used to it after a while
