Can Panic attacks/ anxiety attacks cause discoloration of your fingernails?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I’m just curious because I’ve had a lot of panic and anxiety attacks and just noticed that my finger nails have an off-white line across them and a bit of a dark purple color just under that. So is this caused by panic/ anxiety attacks or is it something more serious than that?

Discoloration of the fingernails is usually caused by a variety microorganisms. However, it can also be the panic attacks, they pose many risks to the body’s immune system. Anyway, you should see a doctor and get examined. If you want to treat the panic attacks you can try this site for a natural method: http://tinyurl.com/ylkuwhx/panic

Can a panic attack cause this?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Hey, I am a 18 year old male and I got mono in September, 2006 of last year and I am allot better from what I was, but I still have some effects of something that is driving me crazy. I have a rapid heart rate at times, like when I wake up and stand up of a morning my heart beats hard for like 5 minutes and I get weak, but I am not light headed yet when I wake up of a morning, but when I get into the evening I get light headed and my heart beats hard and I get light headed and I get almost scared that my heart is going to bust.. When it does that, I can feel it all in my chest beat and shit. I also get random fevers and pressure in my head near my jaws. I was told that it is probably a panic attack and I was wondering can a panic attack do this? Also what is a good medicine for treating a panic attack, if it is that because there is no way I can control it naturally.

Well her is how I look at it; if you have been checked out by your doctor and you have expressed your symtoms and they still insist it is a panic attack then I am going to agree yes.

I suffer from panic disorder, and I found that some commonalities is your associatied enviroment…or your normal routine. You can trigger your own attack by associating it with the last one. That is why most people that suffer anxiety disorder usually are agoraphobic (meaning they don’t like to leave there house ever for fear of a public anxiety attack).. However, you have to retrain your mind into remember the last time it didn’t happen. That is what I do, and they are getting fewer and far between now. The key thing to remember is that if it was a hard attack or something worse there is usually sickness and or pain involved. More then likely you are triggering your own attacks…

For example, I can cause my self to get one there is one chair in my kitchen that I had a bad one in…and everytime I sit in that chair I feel one in a sense coming on…simply mind over matter. But, my mind associates itself with my last experiance. You need to always remeber to take 10 deep inhaled breaths and release them slowly…and keep telling yourself this will pass and that there is nothing wrong with you.

If you still seem like you can’t get over them, you need to see your doctor, perhaps they can put you on some medication to help you "COPE" with the symtoms. Notice I said cope and not cure…because that is exactly what the meds are for!

Has anyone ever had nausea CAUSE a panic attack?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I have had panic attacks in the past, only 2 and not really sure what caused them, however, when I get nauseous, I get really panicky. I cant stand throwing up, not that anyone does, but it really distresses me. has anyone actually ever had nausea CAUSE a panic attack?? And if so, any advice on how to work through it?? The only thing thats helped me in the past is to get in the car and have my husband drive around for awhile to distract me, but you cant just jump in the car at 2 in the morning to do that when you have 2 kids sleeping in bed. Thanks for your help!

It isn’t your nausea causing your panic attack. It is your reaction to the nausea and your fear of vomiting. It is called emetophobia. I can’t speak from experience on that particular phobia, but it is an anxiety disorder. Talk to your doctor…

What can cause a panic attack?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I was taken to the hospital last night after collapsing in a local restaurant. I was told that it was a panic attack, but I hav enot been stressed or anything lately. What could have caused it?

It can be a response to anything, kinda like deja vu.
A sent, situation or even a song, can bring on many emotions, even anxiety.
These things normally reside in our deep subconsciousness.
When anxiety occurs it triggers metaphysical changes like blood pressure, perspiration etc.
I would be certain to get a complete physical if you haven’t already made an appointment to do so.

Can Zoloft cause panic attacks the first week?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

I’m on day 2 of Zoloft for anxiety and depression and I had a bad panic attack today. I read somewhere that antidepressants make you feel worse at first then it gets better. Is that true?

Hey, I understand how you feel…

The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, "jelly" legs, extreme alertness, "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I’ve been there. I’m an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn’t work – a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.

Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work – I’ve tried them and their solutions are similar – it DOESN’T WORK.
Medications do NOT work – I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same – no improvement at all.

The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It’s found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best – it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I’ve bought it and it really helped me – it’s the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I’ve read.
His theory really makes sense and it works effectively!

You will learn why your panic attacks can happen without warning sometimes; why having stimulant causes panic attacks; and many-many other useful tips!

Can a panic attack really cause these symptoms??

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I was driving home, suddenly had trouble breathing (a lot), got dizzy, my vision got weird and my chest started hurting. I had to call 911 and go to the hospital. I didn’t think I was particularly anxious but they told me my heart was ok.
thanks everyone =)

It can be a panic attack, yes, and it can also be something else. I’ve experienced most of those symptoms during panic attacks.

I’d follow up with your regular doctor to make sure you’re physically okay. Then you can start talking about treatment (therapy or medication–or even changing certain habits and taking up a hobby like yoga or meditation) to deal with your anxiety, if that’s what it is. Good luck.

can being under extreme stress (panic attack) cause you to have an abnormal ecg?

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Believe it or not, yes. People don’t know how much stress can play havoc on the system.

As for ECG reading, stress can either cause alone, or exacerbate the following conditions which would show on an ECG: Sinus Tachycardia, Premature Ventricular Complex, Premature Atrial Complex, Junctional Tachycardia.
