There was a storm in my area & three trees fell by my aunt’s house. A car was completely smashed in the front. Someone told me that the local park was messed up. So I went to check it out. It was a complete disaster. It was TOTALLED. All of the big trees
were completely uprooted. Two trees lifted pavements. There were a lot of accidents & pieces of my roof flew off. I live in the city & I never saw anything like this but I think my anxiety took over. When I saw the park I was in disbelief & I started
feeling hot( it was already humid out) I started shaking & I wanted to leave. I wasnt necessarily scared but being at the scene overwhelmed me & I really didnt feel like myself. I was completely out of it & Im still shaky

yes it can, because it might worry you that something might happen. I too, suffer from panic attacks, and alot of things trigger me such as exams, being too nervous or stressed, and sometimes situations like the one you have mentioned.

I’ve been using marijuana for about 2 years now for chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and weight loss. My doctor told me I should try Prozac instead, because I’d been dealing with a lot of stress from my past relationship for the past year and it’s been affecting my life. I told my doctor that I smoke weed, but I told him that I hadn’t been smoking that much lately, only a couple times a day. He said combining both of them would just make the prozac not work, but did not tell me if it was harmful or not. I was very hesitant for a few weeks, but decided to try the prozac because I thought I had nothing to lose. He prescribed me 10mg and I ended up taking it for 2 days. The first day of taking it, I felt completely the same, maybe a little more energy but not like a caffeine high. I smoked a couple bowls that evening and went to sleep. The next day, I took prozac, I still felt the same. I figured that 10 mg just wasn’t really doing anything. I also didn’t eat much that day, except for the breakfast I had when I took the pills. Later that night, I sat down to smoke a couple bowls. Afterward I felt really really high, like it was the first time I had ever smoked weed. A few minutes later I got this hot rush through my body up to my face, felt really dizzy and lightheaded felt like I was going to pass out. My whole body felt weak and I started to feel numb. I started sweating and kept getting chills. My face and tongue felt swollen and tingly, and my throat felt like it was closing up. I was having a hard time breathing and focusing, I felt really confused and just panicked. I had my friend start driving me to the emergency room cause I thought I was going to die. My friend said I should try to eat something and maybe that was why I was having bad side effects. I did and I felt a little better from eating, so decided to just go home and try to sleep. I found my self waking up often gasping for air, and in the morning I barely remembered what happened the day before. I stopped taking prozac immediately, scared that all that would happen again. But I still felt weird and my tongue and throat still felt a little swollen so I went to the hospital. The doctor said it wasn’t an allergic reaction or I would have died not going to the hospital when it happened, and it was just a panic attack. The doctor said she didn’t know if it was from combining marijuana and prozac, and never heard anything bad from mixing them. So.. I was hoping someone could tell me what happened, if it was a panic attack in the first place and if it was from combining the drugs or just from prozac. I know im not going to die now, but I am scared that my anxiety is going to be worse than it ever was from now on and possibly have another panic attack.

I think your friend was right. The panic attack came from not eating and smoking cannabis – not the prozac.

I’m a little confused at why you’d smoke cannabis to treat anxiety, as it is known to cause it! Ditto weight loss… it gives people the "munchies", surely?

I would recommend giving the cannabis a rest and following a healthy diet and exercise plan. Think about maybe getting counselling or CBT. Drugs are clearly not the answer.

I used to have panic attacks all the time, I stopped drinking Caffiene and they stopped. Im now 12 weeks pregnant I have not been able to sleep for three weeks and now my Panic attacks are back. I stress out about stupid things like dying mostly or a loved one dying, I have medicine I take but im not suppose to take it now that im pregnant.. I go see the dr on Monday. But could lack of sleep be triggering my panic attacks again??
Thanks guys, I usually just blast the radio to and sing along it takes my mind of them so i dont start freaking out i have done pretty good keeping them at a low but i think if i got more sleep that it might help.

I have the same problem! Being pregnant makes me feel really out of control sometimes and that stresses me out and that causes me to panic a little. I’ve notice it only happens at night when I am trying to relax. I think it’s a combo of being overly tired, the food I am eating before bed and the extra hormones.

I took citalopram (celexa) for the first time today and had my first panic attack ever. I have been depressed for years, majorly for the last 4 and its gradually getting worse. I also have anxiety. I was diagnosed by a therapist that I just started seeing as having clinical depression. I took my first citalopram today (20 mg) and because extremely on edge and nervous, I spilt a cup of tea and immediately burst into tears, then came the panic attack and then I couldnt stop crying, my hands were tingling and trembling, then my legs and I felt extremely anxious for hours after, and depressed. I couldnt keep track of my thoughts and stuff or stop fidgeting. Is this normal? and how long will it continue for?

Celexa, or Citalopram Hydrobromide, is an SSRI introduced by Forest Pharmaceuticals in 1998. Among its listed side effects were mood changes, confusion, and anxiety. That Celexa anxiety was not a concern to the physicians prescribing the drug became apparent when Celexa joined Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft, as the most popular anti-depressant therapies offered.

Of the many things that can cause you distress, Celexa and panic attacks remain at the top of the list. In order to fully live your life and be able to do the things that you want to do, you need to be able to know how to get a handle on your Celexa and panic attacks before they control you.

One of the worst things about Celexa and panic attacks is not knowing what is going on. You might feel like you can’t breathe and your heart is going to stop and you might find yourself being terrified for no reason. If you know that these are the symptoms of your Celexa and panic attacks you are going to be able to deal with it because you can tell yourself that you know what is going on and you know that it is all going to be over and done with soon. Good luck.Take care as always!

Discoloration of the fingernails is usually caused by a variety microorganisms. However, it can also be the panic attacks, they pose many risks to the body’s immune system. Anyway, you should see a doctor and get examined. If you want to treat the panic attacks you can try this site for a natural method: http://tinyurl.com/ylkuwhx/panic

Hey, I am a 18 year old male and I got mono in September, 2006 of last year and I am allot better from what I was, but I still have some effects of something that is driving me crazy. I have a rapid heart rate at times, like when I wake up and stand up of a morning my heart beats hard for like 5 minutes and I get weak, but I am not light headed yet when I wake up of a morning, but when I get into the evening I get light headed and my heart beats hard and I get light headed and I get almost scared that my heart is going to bust.. When it does that, I can feel it all in my chest beat and shit. I also get random fevers and pressure in my head near my jaws. I was told that it is probably a panic attack and I was wondering can a panic attack do this? Also what is a good medicine for treating a panic attack, if it is that because there is no way I can control it naturally.

Well her is how I look at it; if you have been checked out by your doctor and you have expressed your symtoms and they still insist it is a panic attack then I am going to agree yes.

I suffer from panic disorder, and I found that some commonalities is your associatied enviroment…or your normal routine. You can trigger your own attack by associating it with the last one. That is why most people that suffer anxiety disorder usually are agoraphobic (meaning they don’t like to leave there house ever for fear of a public anxiety attack).. However, you have to retrain your mind into remember the last time it didn’t happen. That is what I do, and they are getting fewer and far between now. The key thing to remember is that if it was a hard attack or something worse there is usually sickness and or pain involved. More then likely you are triggering your own attacks…

For example, I can cause my self to get one there is one chair in my kitchen that I had a bad one in…and everytime I sit in that chair I feel one in a sense coming on…simply mind over matter. But, my mind associates itself with my last experiance. You need to always remeber to take 10 deep inhaled breaths and release them slowly…and keep telling yourself this will pass and that there is nothing wrong with you.

If you still seem like you can’t get over them, you need to see your doctor, perhaps they can put you on some medication to help you "COPE" with the symtoms. Notice I said cope and not cure…because that is exactly what the meds are for!

I have had panic attacks in the past, only 2 and not really sure what caused them, however, when I get nauseous, I get really panicky. I cant stand throwing up, not that anyone does, but it really distresses me. has anyone actually ever had nausea CAUSE a panic attack?? And if so, any advice on how to work through it?? The only thing thats helped me in the past is to get in the car and have my husband drive around for awhile to distract me, but you cant just jump in the car at 2 in the morning to do that when you have 2 kids sleeping in bed. Thanks for your help!

It isn’t your nausea causing your panic attack. It is your reaction to the nausea and your fear of vomiting. It is called emetophobia. I can’t speak from experience on that particular phobia, but it is an anxiety disorder. Talk to your doctor…
