This all started yesterday. My boyfriend and I went to church with my mother, father, and two brothers. I have panic disorder and claustrophobia. So when I get into social situations(such as church) or out in public I usually have panic attacks. It was halfway into the sermon when I started to get panicky. My father was sitting in the row in front of my mother, brothers, and my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend tries to help calm me by hugging me and rubbing my back. Then he gives me a slight peck on the lips. The next thing I feel is my face going completely numb and my lip throbbing. I open my eyes to find my father looking furious and shaking his fist at my boyfriend. I look around and more than 12 people plus the pastor were staring. I look over at my mother and shes sitting there with her head in her hands. Needless to say my boyfriend and I were out of the church very quickly. By that time I was sobbing. We walked back to where the car is parked and stand there. He apologizes to me saying it was all his fault he never should have kissed me and he would apologize to my father. I was completely filled with rage and told him that that was a load of bull and there is no reason he should apologize to that SOB because what he did was worse than a peck on the lips at church. Then my father comes out to the car and says, "First of all I’m very sorry about doing that but do you honestly think it’s right to kiss in church?!" I then said, "Is it right to bitchslap your daughter in church?!" I said it loud and my father hates making a scene so he tried to get us to talk in the car but I refused to get in. We went back up to the church and my boyfriend went in to get my mother. We all talked for a few minuets then she told me to stay where I was while she talked to my father. I didn’t want to even see him and I told her that. So instead I grabbed my boyfriend and we ran into some wooded area by the church. He tried to calm me down and called his dad to let him know what happened. His dad was upset and willing to pick us up but I told him not to do that yet. We stood out in the cold for about 20 mins while my mother drove around to see if she could find us. I guess by this time my father had gone home with my aunt. My boyfriend convinced me to come out and we went to where my mother had parked. When we got in she started to lecture and talk and say how she couldn’t believe my father did that. Theres a lot more to this story but I’m trying to be brief….after that my father kept trying to apologize but will not admit he slapped me to save his life! He says he tapped me and my definition of a slap must differ from his. I think that a slap is a pretty universal term. I can’t bring myself to forgive him because this isn’t the first time this has happened. He used to spank or beat me when I was a toddler for doing things normal kids do at that age. He punched me before in the back when I was 12 because my brother was making fun of me and I told him to stop it. Then not too long ago my boyfriend was getting ready to leave my house, I was sitting on the floor and my father yanked me up by my hair. Now I let my father have it good today before I left the house and told him about all the things he’s done to me and that’s why I can’t forgive him. When I got back home my mother said he swears to god that he doesn’t remember pulling my hair.

My home life is total hell at the moment. My boyfriends parents are willing to take me in but I’m 17 and my parents could get them in trouble.

Bottom line I’m hurt I’m confused and I just want to get the hell out of here without getting people in trouble. What am I supposed to do?!?!

Oh and I would appreciate it if people didn’t leave stupid answers. kthanx

You’re in a tough spot probably between a rock & a hard place. Stay in school til you finish. Try to find a part time job and save your money. Your father has some issues that probably date back to his own childhood. If you have grandparents that are alive (your dads) you may want to speak with them in order to help you understand him more. Try and get to see a doctor because there may be some meds that may help you also. This may also help your parents become more aware of your condition. Maybe you have another older male figure in your life somewhere (uncle, dad’s best friend, boss, teacher, etc) who can talk with your father and may have an influence on him. There are a lot of things you don’t know about his past that you will come to find out much later on in life. I hope he comes to finding out the hurt he caused you as well. The very best to you!

i need a conclusion to my speech. it is due in 3 days and i have no idea what to put. it is supposed to be 5-7minutes long, and i’m only at 4min 10sec. plz help??

This is my speech so far. (Rough Draft)

What if I dropped a big hairy tarantula down you back or took you on a ski lift so high in the air that the people at the bottom looked like tiny ants? What if I turned out the lights and left you alone in utter darkness. Would you shriek? Panic? Hyperventilate? How about collapse? Think of your worst fear everyone. Close your eyes. Imagine it. Is this painful for you? Would you do anything to make it go away? Well folks, that is not just a fear. It’s a phobia.

According to the Webster’s Dictionary, phobia is defined as an exaggerated, inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, situation or idea.

There are three types of phobias; social phobia, agoraphobia, and specific phobias.

Social phobia occurs when there is a fear of social situations, such as small groups of people at parties. People with social phobia have no confidence with people they don’t know, and fear that strangers are being critical of them. They may also fear that they will behave in an embarrassing way, such as blushing or shaking in public.

Agoraphobia is the fear of being in any situation that might cause a panic attack or which escape may be difficult. These places include large open spaces.

Specific phobia is the fear of a specific object, such as the fear of children, pedophobia: the fear of numbers, numerophobia; and the fear of clowns, Coulrophobia. (kool-row-phobia)

When someone has a phobia and has an encounter with it, that person will start to get dizzy, breathless, or nauseated. If the phobia is strong enough, the person will have a panic attack. A panic attack is when a person starts to sweat, shake and breathe heavily. It can cause someone to think something awful is going to happen, that he or she can’t escape, or they might lose control.

By now, you might be thinking, what causes a phobia? First off, I will inform you that phobias are quite common, and affect more than 10% of the population. The main cause of this mental disorder is a traumatic event that was stored in a person’s memory. Phobias may also be genetic, passed down from one generation to the next. Other phobias are left un-explained, with no apparent reason for their occurrence.

My grandmother has Ophidiophobia. (Oh-fee-dee-o-phobia) This is the fear of snakes. Her fear was so intense, even the thought of snakes made her nauseous and dizzy. She got rid of her fear bit by bit, but it never completely disappeared. She told me that she has no idea why she has this fear.
Now that you know what a phobia is, and you know the symptoms, let me inform you of the treatments. There are quite a few treatment options for the Phobic, and this is just one option. In exposure treatments, the patient is exposed to their fear in order to help them overcome their fear. In this, the patient is confronted by their fear for an extended length of time without the opportunity to escape. The goal of this method is to help the person face their fear and realize that the fear will not harm them.

So you know the definition, the cause, and the treatment. So how about I tell you the names.

First off, the most common phobia is Arachnophobia, the fear of spiders. 50% of women have a fear of spiders.

Dendrophobia (Den-dro-phobia) is the fear of trees. Chaetophobia (Chae-to-phobia) is the fear of hair. Arachibutyrophobia (a-raycheye-buttie-row-phobia) is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth. The fear of going to school is Didaskaleinophobia. (die-dask-kal-eno-phobia) Lachanophobia (lach-ano-phobia) is the fear of vegetables. No, I’m not making these up. These are real phobias. Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. ( Hip-o-poe-tom-on-stros-quip-dal-le-o-phobia ) That’s the fear of long words. The fear of being tickled by feathers is Pteronophobia. (tero-no-phobia)

You forgot another very common phobia – triskaidekaphobia
Definition  [tr?s?k?-d?k??-f??b?-?, tr?s?k?-]
(n.) An abnormal fear of the number 13.

Dictionary.com · The American Heritage® Dictionary

As for the ending of your speech, you might consider what you would tell a friend who suffers from a phobia or has a relative who suffers from a phobia. Something to the effect of…

"Even though you might not suffer from any phobias and, perhaps, you might find it ridiculous that somebody, in fact, is suffering from a phobia, please understand that this is a very real and tangible fear for them. It is also something that should be treated by professionals in controlled situations.

If you, or somebody you know, has one or more phobia’s which are impacting their life, you might go online and find some psychologists or clinics that specialize in treating people with various phobias. Gently encourage them to seek treatment so that they do not have to be slaves of their phobias and let them know that, with proper help, they can take control of their lives again.

When you know somebody suffering from a phobia, you have three choices. You can laugh at their phobia and let them know that you do not validate it (something which has not positive effect and can be cruel to the phobic), you can ignore it and do nothing or you can validate their phobia(s) for them and let them know that they do not have to suffer. Be willing to help make the call or find a professional who can help them overcome their obstacles and live a fuller life. This last choice is obviously the most rewarding choice one can make,"

Good luck on your speech!

so for the last… idk maybe 5-6 years ive had pretty severe depression. in the last year or so, i started getting pretty bad anxiety symptoms such as tight chest pains, numbness… heart attack feelings i suppose they refer to as panic attacks– i find that to be a pretty sensational definition, im not PANICKING or being attacked, it just really sucks. i got arrested last february for selling bud, and since then things got much worse. i got a jail sentence, and every day since i went in ive had "panic attacks". in the last few weeks, ive had numb fingers (im guessing something to do with blood pressure?). my muscles seem very tense, and i have a pinched nerve in my back (could just be from work).

anyway, before i went to jail, i was prescribed escitalopram (lexapro), which didnt do jack for it, then they switched me to half an mg of klonopin, then upped it to 1mg. i seemed to be on the right track, tho im not a big fan of benzos. once i went in, they wouldnt give it to me anymore, and didnt offer me any substitute, so obviously things have been escalating.

any idea what this is and what would work well for it? xanax seems to help (not prescribed yet, once i get to my doc im gonna see about switching… that is once i get the freedom to go do that).

thanks for the help, this sucks and id like to be happy for once.
Ive been to counselling, and ive been prescribed to klonopin. the jail just wont give them to me.
ive had severe depression since i was… 14? maybe? im 21 now.

depression and anxiety are controlled by the same chemicals in the brain.
you may be having symptoms of panic, but you are VERY fortunate to not actually be panicking.

i don’t really have any answers for you other than that
talking to your doctor sounds like the best plan though.
sorry

phobia’s Pwease

Phobia’s.
How would you react if I dropped a lizard down your shirt? How about if I took you up so high that objects below looked like ants? And what if I turned off all the lights and left you alone in absolute darkness? You might panic, you might "flip out," you might even FAINT. Have you ever been utterly terrified of something without any logical basis? If so, you may have a phobia. Phobias are irrational fears of certain objects, people, or actions that can cause a person to shriek, tremble, cry, or even fall unconscious. I have Lepidopterophobia, which is a fear of moths and butterflies. This might seem silly, but there are plenty of phobias out there even more obscure.
When I say the word phobia most of us think of people who are afraid of spiders ,heights ,needles or the dark these are common one’s but there are phobia’s people would never think of. Butterflies? Gum? how could people be afraid of these? well guess what? Oprah has a fear of chewing gum and Nicole Kidman shares the same phobia as me and the most popular teen celebrity Justin Bieber has a fear of elevators. Phobia’s can be a big part of a person life specially if you have phobia’s like Telephonophobia – Fear of telephones, Ephebiphobia – Fear of teenagers., Arithmophobia – Fear of numbers and Cathisophobia- Fear of sitting, think about it. How would one even be able to leave their houses, knowing that you have to see the things you are most afraid of? even though these may seem weird ,for a person who has these phobia’s it’s like a night mare.
So what is a phobia? The word phobia originates from the Greek word "phobos" meaning fear. Phobia is an extreme fear of something that can cause little or no harm at all. Common phobias and fears include closed-in places, heights, highway driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. We can develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop during childhood, but they can also develop during adulthood.
People who have a phobia won’t be afraid of something just once or twice, they will be afraid every single time they come across it. Because of this, people who have phobias often go out of their way to avoid the situation or the things that scares them.
There are four main types of phobia’s Animal phobia which are fears of animals and insects. Natural environment phobias cause by things found in nature like fears of storms and fears of the dark. Situational phobias- fears caused by a specific situation like fears of elevators &fears of driving. and Blood-Injection-Injury phobia which basically means fears of blood, fear or injury or fears of medical procedures. Some phobias don’t fall into one of the four common categories.
Agoraphobia is a kind of phobia that doesn’t fit into these four categories. Its literal definition means fear of open spaces, Agoraphobia is the fear of being in any situation that might cause a panic attack or where escape from the situation might be difficult or embarrassing. People who have agoraphobia, are likely to avoid crowded places such as shopping malls and movie theatres.
Social phobia is another kind of phobia that doesn’t fit into the four categories it occurs when there is a fear of social situations, such as small groups of people at parties. People with social phobia have no confidence with people they don’t know. They may also fear that they will behave in an embarrassing way, such as blushing or shaking in public.
So what causes phobia’s? Phobia’s could be a result of a traumatic experience’s from the past. Due to the traumas, very powerful emotional content, they still influenced the conscious mind, presenting them in a disguised form as a phobia. Genetics is known to influence the cause of phobia’s but they aren’t the actual cause. Some people believe that re-incarnation could also be a cause, as when a person is born again they might be afraid of what killed them in the past life not knowingly like fire, explosion or planes.
Phobias in children are also very common. Children from the ages of 3-6 have fears against imaginary things such as ghosts, monsters, the dark and sleeping alone whereas children from the ages of 7-16 have more realistic fears such as injury, school performances and natural disasters.
People with phobias experience many symptoms like shortness of breath feeling of choking sweating, nausea feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or faint. The symptoms of blood-injection-injury phobia are slightly different from other phobias. When confronted with the sight of blood or a needle, you experi

i like it i was very interested, i hope you will be able to pronounce all the phobias

Due to the traumas’ very powerful emotional content, they still influenced the conscious mind, presenting them in a disguised form as a phobia. Genetics is known to influence the cause of phobia’s as they aren’t the actual reason.
When confronted with the sight of blood or a needle, you experience not only fear but disgust. Although a fear of fainting

When I say the word phobia most of us think of people who are afraid of spiders ,heights ,needles or the dark these are common one’s but there are phobia’s people would never think of such as Telephonophobia – Fear of telephones, Ephebiphobia – Fear of teenagers., Arithmophobia – Fear of numbers and Cathisophobia- Fear of sitting, even though these may seem weird ,for a person who has these phobia’s it’s like a night mare. phobia’s can be a big part of a person’s life especially if a person has to face their fear to a dad-to-day bases .It might be hard for a person to even get out of their houses.

Common phobias and fears include closed-in places, heights, highway driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. We can develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop during childhood, but they can also develop in adults.

Abusive parents disrespect you so that you feel drinking and smoking is no big deal. Then they catch you and get off on it. Its all a game and they win by making you out to have a problem. Youre just reacting to poor parenting and abuse. This game can go on for years into adulthood until you realize they are liars even tho the words might sound true. Abusers are experts at twisting words and making things sound true just to hurt you.

The reason you could care less about drinking and whatever is cause you dont care about their rules. Why? cause there is no respect in the family. There is distance and hatred. The words they use to bring constant anger is a key sign.

Hurting people hurt others. They are sick and being mean makes them feel better. People/kids/parents do mean things or lie and control. They just want the reaction so they can get high feel good from it. The words are not true. They have a problem and they need control.

Also -When you have a bad past/rejection/father gone it lets other things start. Anorexia Bi polar, Cutting, OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, hearing voices can all come from a tramautic past. It opens doors to the negative and they start to dwell closeby, like addicitons cravings.

You can talk to me or google "emotional abuse" and see all the definitions and see its all true. Knowing the truth is the step to freedom from pain. Negative people and abuse brings spiritual problems so praying to get rid of negative things of a spiritual nature is often needed after years of abuse. Its not you its them. Its all about you having control.

I think you got wrong in some parts.
"Anorexia Bi polar, Cutting, OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, hearing voices " I had all of these major problems when I was younger (I still have some) but my parents are not abusive. I mean,maybe they are but the society knows them as "model parents". dad’s a neuro sergon, mom’s a lawyer!!! they seem perfectly happy from a stranger’s eyes but what I know is that they barely even talk to each other. they have nothing in common…oh,well, they do! they both have a tendency to make me do things they like… and you know what hurts most is that when I used to live with them they did all they could to drive me mad like 25 times a day and then they called me an abnormal child! I have experienced some horrible years but gradualy I realized that they are not worthy enough to rule my life. they always wanted me to study medicine or law in a university in my home town to be as close to them as possible, but I thought it’s time for a change and I decided to study literature in the capital which is a four hour drive from my home town.
this decision literally changed everything for me. as soon as I chose to break the chains I realized Im a whole different person. now I know that Im not all I thought I am. I used to feel extremely lonely and never (I mean ever) talked to people in school but now that I talk more I actually find that many people like me !!
I don’t know how old you are (Im only 18!) but I wanna let you know that I understand how you feel. even though I feel much better than I used to feel, I know that scars would remain forever and I will never be whole again. both cuts on my arms and cuts on my soul will remain but I think if I ever settle down and have some kids, I can be a good parent to my children. I will let them grow but bounding them with no chain, I will let them choose their own way…
I hope you too woudd discover your precious real self soon. Good luck and have a nice life

Doctors don’t invent illnesses……. they assign names to certain collections of symptoms so they and other doctors can easily treat the specific set of symptoms……. Bipolar is a set of symptoms – not an invented illness……. It isn’t the doctors who have created so much stigma surrounding so many illnesses…. it is people.

Many people in the UK are afraid the Government will force people to have compulsory vaccinations, and many people say the vaccinations will not be compulsory.

The people who say vaccinations won’t be compulsory seem to be unaware of the Civil Contingencies Act of Parliament, which could easily force people to be vaccinated. The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 specifically mentions how an epidemic could be classed as a National Emergency and during a national emergency… EMERGENCY REGULATIONS can be enforced contrary to normal laws. Emergency regulations are often very strict such as when the military are legally allowed to shoot looters. The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 specifically says the Scope of Emergency Regulations can be applied to the treatment of human illnesses, which means compulsory vaccinations are possible: vaccinations are very likely if a National Emergency is declared regarding the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

Now considering how normal flu (the non-swine variety) kills around 12,000 people each year in the UK, and swine flu has killed only around 30 so far, I am wondering why the media, Department of Health, and Government are trying to create panic by blowing the swine flu pandemic out of all proportion? Swine flu is currently much less dangerous than normal flu, and until around 7,000 people have died of swine flu there is no need to panic.

Maybe compulsory vaccinations are profitable? Will vaccinations help stop the recession? Perhaps the government motivation is financial?

Were you aware of how the Civil Contingencies Act could be used to force people (compulsorily) to be vaccinated? What do you think of the media hype? Why are the officials blowing this swine flu issue out of all proportion?

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2004/ukpga_20040036_en_1

The Civil Contingencies Act allows emergency regulations to be quickly made without Parliamentary oversight. Here are some of the things that the Civil Contingencies Act allows the Government to do:

b) provide for or enable the requisition or confiscation of property (with or without compensation);
(c) provide for or enable the destruction of property, animal life or plant life (with or without compensation);
(d) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, movement to or from a specified place;
(e) require, or enable the requirement of, movement to or from a specified place;
(f) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, assemblies of specified kinds, at specified places or at specified times;
(g) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, travel at specified times;
(h) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, other specified activities;
(i) create an offence of—
(i) failing to comply with a provision of the regulations;
(ii) failing to comply with a direction or order given or made under the regulations;
(iii) obstructing a person in the performance of a function under or by virtue of the regulations;

SCOPE OF EMERGENCY REGULATIONS:
(a) protecting human life, health or safety,
(b) treating human illness or injury,
(c) protecting or restoring property,
(d) protecting or restoring a supply of money, food, water, energy or fuel,
(e) protecting or restoring a system of communication,
(f) protecting or restoring facilities for transport,
(g) protecting or restoring the provision of services relating to health,
(h) protecting or restoring the activities of banks or other financial institutions,
(i) preventing, containing or reducing the contamination of land, water or air,
(j) preventing, reducing or mitigating the effects of disruption or destruction of plant life or animal life,
(k) protecting or restoring activities of Parliament, of the Scottish Parliament, of the Northern Ireland Assembly or of the National Assembly for Wales, or
(l) protecting or restoring the performance of public functions.

Explanatory Notes to Civil Contingencies Act 2004

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2004/en/ukpgaen_20040036_en_1

“Subsection (1) defines "emergency" for the purposes of Part 1. Events such as a terrorist attack, disruption of fuel supplies, contamination of land with a chemical matter and an epidemic could satisfy the definition, should they reach the required level of seriousness.”

“For example, an event or situation which causes or may cause serious human illness in the United Kingdom may be an emergency under section 19. Provision may be included in emergency regulations for the purpose of treating human illness (paragraph (b)).”

BE VERY AFRAID!

Do you think the UK Government is corrupt?

Would you trust them to vaccinate you?

I am afraid my friend.

All governments are corrupt: or the organizations giving them their instructions are.

Immunisations are BAD for your health! Children grow into stronger adults if they have fought off childhood diseases; weaker if they have been "immunized". Rubella immunization nearly always causes the development of arthritis in later life. The list is endless….

There are steps being taken to ensure most people die at a younger age. This is another arena in which officialdom are deceiving us.

How many people each year die from Normal flu? How many have died from Normal flu since the death toll of Swine flu started being broadcast.

The Civil Contingencies Act allows emergency regulations to be quickly made without Parliamentary oversight. Here are some of the things that the Civil Contingencies Act allows the Government to do:

b) provide for or enable the requisition or confiscation of property (with or without compensation);
(c) provide for or enable the destruction of property, animal life or plant life (with or without compensation);
(d) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, movement to or from a specified place;
(e) require, or enable the requirement of, movement to or from a specified place;
(f) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, assemblies of specified kinds, at specified places or at specified times;
(g) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, travel at specified times;
(h) prohibit, or enable the prohibition of, other specified activities;
(i) create an offence of—
(i) failing to comply with a provision of the regulations;
(ii) failing to comply with a direction or order given or made under the regulations;
(iii) obstructing a person in the performance of a function under or by virtue of the regulations;
