<br />You may be more prone to panic attacks if you have depression or anxiety, asthma or diabetes, are taking stimulants (energy drinks or coffee and caffeine).</p>
<p>To get rid of the panic attacks you might want to reduce your exposure to unnecessary stress. Find ways to express your needs and assert yourself more successfully or change your lifestyle by taking  regular exercise. Avoid stimulants, such as cigarettes and alcohol. Eat regular meals and avoid processed foods and drinks..</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t bottle up your emotions. Find someone to confide in, such as a family member or a friend. Focus on the positive aspects of your life. If you feel an attack coming on, try to distract yourself with a pleasurable task.</p>
<p>Also don&#8217;t depend on others for reassurance. Tell yourself you&#8217;re not dying or going mad. It&#8217;s better to rely on yourself than others.</p>
<p>Accept and face your feelings during an attack. They will become less intense.</p>
<p>I hope everything turns out well and if you ever have another panic attack tell someone or contact someone.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>i have been getting very mild to severe panic attacks over situations that don&#8217;t seem that bad in reality. for example the night before school starts i seem to lose control of the situation and i start freaking out like crazy. my head feels light headed and i can&#8217;t focus on the things that make me happy. i don&#8217;t want to take a chance on meds because they have very adverse side effects, is there any other options? i have heard about things like 5 HTP and St. John&#8217;s Wort, how do these supplements work? i really need help<br />
<br />Dealing with panic attacks is frustrating and scary. Medications are very helpful, some do not have very bad side effects, especially the newer drugs which are the likely ones your doctor would prescribe. Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? Or are you just going on your symptoms?<br />
Therapy is also beneficial to many where techniques can be learned to calm yourself down when you feel an attack coming. Medication combined with therapy is often the most beneficial.<br />
I have suffered from these attacks for so many years that I have learned to cope and deal with several attempts at therapy and also different medications.<br />
You can research coping strategies on several websites, some things that may help:<br />
hot tea<br />
hot bath or shower<br />
aromatherapy&#8230;lavender is excellent<br />
deep breathing<br />
soft music<br />
laying down<br />
cold to your head (ice cubes or cold cloth) when feeling dizzy<br />
Don&#8217;t use medication that will simply put you to sleep&#8230;you will do yourself no good, because you will not be dealing with the problem.<br />
I won&#8217;t suggest specific medications, but talk to your doctor, the SSRI class of medications is well tolerated and there are even docs that will recommend plenty of alternative therapies such as the St. John&#8217;s Wort or there are different flower herbs as well.<br />

Sometimes I think I should just pull over but then my mind races even more and for some reason I get worried if I dont have another driver in the car that would be able to take over driving for me. I used to get them at school but only when I had to read out loud. Now I get them more than ever. Last night I was out on a date and I got one just sitting there during the movie and I just tried taking deep breaths but i kept thinking it was making it worse. and during church today I felt like I was about to get one. I dont know what to do about it anymore. I dont really have money or insurance to see a dr about this. Isthere anything I can do to calm myself? please help!  I&#8217;m 19, if that makes a difference. and Im not really worried about anything in life in general. when it happens i ask myself why im i scared. help<br />
i really dont wanna go and take meds. and also i am on albuterol inhaler. is this making it worse? should i stop using my inhaler?<br />
in my question i said with med. i meant WITHOUT MED. ive heard stories that its not good for u and stuff.<br />
<br />I am with you on the no meds thing&#8230; here is my trick&#8230; find some prase that you can repeat over and over in your head.  usually my panic attacks make things feel so fast and out of control and sends my thoughts racing through my head&#8230; I found a song from some kids show &#8211; lamb chop.. </p>
<p>this is the song that doesn&#8217;t end yes it goes on and on my friend some people started singing it not knowing what it was and they&#8217;ll continue singing it for ever just because this is the song that doesn&#8217;t end yes it goes on and on&#8230;. repeat whats above&#8230; </p>
<p>I have a med that I can take that desolves under the toung that works quick if I can&#8217;t get it to stop.  </p>
<p>concentrate on something else to get your mind off of it</p>

<br />You have to talk your self out of it!!! If you fell it coming  ( I can fell mine coming on) Sit down and talk to yourself. Just say you OK, there is no reason to do this. Just say it over and over. find something that calms you down and focus on that it took me a couple of times but I learned how to talk my self down but you might want to think about taking some thing for anxiety. It may help. Good luck</p>

<br />Here is a suggestion that just might work. for your anxiety. Since from your other quetions you are not fond of pills. You might find this form of meditation helpfull</p>
<p>First get the following things:<br />
A picture frame with a black backing and a Small yellow candle.</p>
<p>Then each night just before you go to bed and you know you will not be bothered Turn out the lights and place the candle directly in front of the picture frame. The frame with the black backing acts like a dull mirror and wil direct your anxiety out and away from you.</p>
<p>Make yourself comfortable and Sit in front of the candle and focus on the flame as it is reflected from the frame.</p>
<p>Try to look past the flame and imagine all your fears being absorbed by the flame. Feel your fears melting away and floting away in the smoke. As you are doing this feel a sense of peace work it way through your body starting from your feet filling you until it tops off at the top of your head. feel the peace&#8217;s Warmth. Feel it gentleness. Let it relax you. keep this going even as you blow out the candle and make your way to bed. Once you have reached your bed and covered yourself in your favorite blanket let that sense of peace reach inward as you close you eyes.  Sweet dreams</p>

I&#8217;ve been wearing retainers for a year and am used to the orthodontist (even though mine is a total b**ch) but from the moment I stepped out of the car I couldn&#8217;t stop crying and when I couldn&#8217;t calm down they said there was nothing for it and we&#8217;d have to reschedule. Once I left the building I could hardly breathe and still didn&#8217;t stop crying for hours.</p>
<p>Was this a panic attack? I&#8217;ve never had one before so I&#8217;m not sure.</p>
<p>More importantly, how can I stay calm for my next appointment? I know having the braces fitted wont hurt, and I know you don&#8217;t miss out on as much as you think you will, but I was still panicking.</p>
<p>Please help?<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have tried breathing in and out slowly when I feel one coming but it  just doesn&#8217;t  seem to work. When I am having one I sweat really bad, it seems like everyone around me gets louder, and the lights seem to get brighter. It is almost impossible to get over them. The major problem with this issue is that they happen only in school so I haven&#8217;t been going to school lately because I&#8217;m afraid of having  one. I can&#8217;t see my docor until Thursday what do I do? I haven&#8217;t been at school since last week. I am getting really behind on my school work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get through a school day with these attacks?<br />
<br />Xanax can help a lot, even just knowing you can take it if you need to.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re like me &amp; can&#8217;t take Xanax, it&#8217;s harder.  I try to remember that no matter how scary it feels, a panic attack doesn&#8217;t actually harm me, and that sooner or later it will stop.  And I try to just really focus on everything else, to get outside myself.</p>
<p>Try not to miss school because of it &#8212; everything I&#8217;ve heard is that the more you&#8217;re in situations that trigger panic attacks, even though you&#8217;re nervous, the better you get.  You just get used to it.   Avoiding them just makes you more anxious and the attacks worse when you have to be in triggering situations.</p>

<br />being a cancerian means you are very emotional. these emotions come from thoughts.now if they are nervousness,anger,depression or stressful thoughts that cause panic attacks that means that the thoughts your are thinking are dsyfunctional. emotions are very quick and they are triggered before thoughts,,when you feel bad just know you are not thinking rightly,the thoughts in your head are exaggerating the situation and that triggers the emotion.just change the thought and relax and then your emotions will follow.</p>
