I am 28 and I am suffering anxiety and panic attacks frequently. Anyone can help me or knows how to stop panic and anxiety attacks.

One recommended way to treat it is therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is often used to help patients suffering from anxiety. One aspect of this involves changing the way the patient thinks or perceives certain things. By changing the way you think about certain situations, those particular situations can become less intimidating and help with the tendency to inflate a situation to an unmanageable level. Also, the patient can attempt to change their reactions to certain situations. This way is usually used for those who suffer from certain phobias. By exposing themselves to the specific things that trigger their anxiety, they will hopefully realize that the consequences for these situations are not nearly as bad as they thought.
I know an excellent website that could help you and anyone that has suffering panic and anxiety attacks, visit them in http://hopurl.com/68127

I’ve had them since i was little and they came back recently. I don’t like to sleep at night, so i stay up and think to much… and i can’t make them stop unless i stay up and this really hurts me because I’m so tired all the time. The things i worry about are really stupid and i think its because i stay up so much is the reason i have them… PLEASE help me i don’t know what to do……
Im generally a really chill person I don’t know what the f^%& is wrong w/ me…

Panic attacks are triggered by a subconscious reminder of a trauma that happened usually in childhood, sexual abuse, physical abuse, something that you may have seen that your conscious mind was unable to deal with in a healthy way. You probably don’t remember what caused it but some people do. There are many safe medications for panic attacks that prevent the anxiety that starts the attack. You would want to get a correct diagnosis and treatment from a psychiatrist who is the specialist. They do work and stop the attacks. You don’t have to live with them! I hope you will get help.

i keep having panic attacks and need to get them to stop. what can i do without tacking medicine?

I used to have panic attacks, up to twelve a day. I agree that medication isn’t the way to go, most doctors try to cover up the symptoms. When you can try and anticipate when you’ll get one, or mark down the places you get them (triggers), then you can be prepared. I know it’s hard, but you have to tell yourself that there’s really nothing to be afraid of because that’s what a panic attack usually is: a strong physical response to fear. I found meditation very helpful and I always carry water with me in public places because holding or regulating my breath is a major factor in stopping them.

Good luck!

I am suffering from severe anxiety and I dont know what to do. Every second of my life I feel as if someone is watching me. I am constantly thinking all the time, whether it be what people are thinking of me, or just general stuff. I get severe headaches everyday. It feels like I never get enough sleep. I have two to three panic attacks every week. I start to shake and then i breathe heavy and then my heart beats so fast that my body stops breathing for about a minute or so. My hands and extremities become numb. After my panic attack I have trouble trying to speak and walk for about two minutes. I know I have a problem but I do not want to be put on meds. Is there any natural way to get rid of this problem? What should I do?

Medication is very effective for panic disorder, and with few side effects. Other than that, there is cognitive behavioral therapy, which is more costly, takes longer and the problem tends to come back. They will also teach you relaxation techniques which you can use to overcome the attacks. I seriously recommend you reconsider taking medication, though. Some people end up killing themselves over this.

Has anyone found an easy way to ease panic attacks? I get them when I have to speak in front of people- mainly when going down a line and im anticipating my turn. I started taking ST. Johns Wart as it says its for nervousness- though its just a herb and not sure I believe too much in it. Any suggestions?

YES! I have cured my panic attacks for the most part. I used to get them everyday. It was all in how I think. Constant thoughts of negativity and "what ifs". I can relate to your anxiety from waiting in line. I would get panic attacks waiting to talk to people as well.

My answer was to STOP THINKING THE WAY THAT I DID! Simple! I paid 300.00 for video tapes and books about panic disorder to discover that this is the answer. If your inner dialogue is like what mine was, Instead of filling your mind with "what ifs" tell yourself:

I can’t change the past
I can change my attitude
I can change me now
I can teach myself to stop thinking the negative way that I do
I am intelligent, creative and capable
I am open to learning new skills
It’s just anxiety

Also, breathing is a great help. Breathe in for 5 and out for 8. It tricks our brains into switching off our flight or fight responses. I wish you the best and think positive!

Take slow deep breaths and don’t ever breath fast, that only makes it worse. Crying can help sometimes, and releases allot of stress! You might have to be put on something to help you calm down!

I was given Metoprolol Tartrate by a cardiologist after I acually asked him for Beta Blockers for my panic attacks. He said that I really don’t need it but he can give me one to use it if I need it. He had prescibed me metoprolol tartrate 25mg and told me that take it ONLY if I get heart palpitations during a panic attack 2 times a day for one day and stop it till the next attack occurs. But he also told me to try Xanax first, and if the blood preassure does not go down , and the palpitations do not stop than told me to take Metoprolol tartrate.
I haven’t had any panic attacks last more than 30 minites , and both my blood preassure and racing heart rate goe down right after I take xanax, so I did not use this medication yet.
I read about this drug, it says it needs to be taken daily. I also saw that Propranolol and atenolol seem to be more effective for panic disorder.
I do not have any cardiac problmes, I had cleared all tests. But suffer from severe anxiety and panic disorder which can get my heart to beat 110 to 120, The highest 130, no chest pain at all. This episode lasts about 20 minutes to 30 minutes.
I run everyday, cholesterol levels are very good. LDL 41 HDL 80, Triglycerides 27.
Holter, EKG, Stress test and echo had not shown any problems.
But I suffer from panic disorder.
My blood preassure is usually 110 over 70 but it also goes high during a panic attack to first 140 over 70, if I take Xanax right there it stabilizes and panic goes away, if I don’t than my blood preassure keeps going higher to 150 over 80, 160, over 80, The highest 170 over 80. And goes down back to normal right after I take Xanax with in 10 minutes,
I get those panic attacks 5 -6 times a year. sometimes 10 times a year.
what should I do? shoukd I take the Xanax or the Metoprolol tartrate during a panic attack?

If the Xanax works, it would probably be better to stick with the Xanax. I’ve been given Propranolol for performance anxiety, but I hardly use it because 1) It directly works against my Albuterol for my asthma making both ineffective and 2) the benzodiazepines have (in myself at least) proven to be more effective. Generally, beta-blockers are for those with high blood pressure, and since yours is usually normal, and high blood pressure is symptom of a panic attack, I don’t think that beta-blockers are the best decision. Plus, you say the Xanax works, so if you have something that works well, you should probably just stick with that. Just make sure you take it before your blood pressure gets too high, and it sounds like you will be fine.

You can’t eliminate it properly without meds or at least therapy, most of the time. However, there are things you can do to make yourself get better.

E.G for anxiety and panic attacks, avoid "triggers". You’ll notice you panic when certain things are around. You may think "Oh, gosh, I don’t want to die." and panic about death (which is pretty common), but this might happen when you are in really strong winds, for example. Strong winds could be your trigger. That was a bad example, but you get what I mean?

Depression, you need to… take your mind off it. Hang out with friends. Take in a hobby. Get a pet. Write. Draw. Express yourself. Throw eggs off tall buildings.
Vent in any way you can, keep your mind off the sadness in any way you can, and it will lessen.
