i have had these before and i dont wish them on any body my heart starts going a hundred miles a second my hole chest feels like its going to cave in and i get really dizzy and almost pass out,,, what is this,,? i know its physical not mental, i am pretty unhealthy,, can x rays of the heart show if it is enlarged??? if im really out of shape and have a bad heart is it still god to push myself to bike or jog i have high blood pressure

The only way to determine the cause of your symptoms is to go to the doctor. These symptoms could be related to a panic attack, but they could also be related to an underlying medical condition. This does not sound typical of an asthma attack though, but it is possible. Asthma attacks classically are associated with shortness of breath, cough, and wheezing. Asthma attacks can certainly increase the heart rate. Asthma is easy to evaluate for with simple breathing tests. These symptoms could also be related to an abnormal heart rhythm, such as supraventricular tachycardia.

Yes, Chest X-Ray can show an enlarged heart. But these symptoms are not signs of an enlarged heart. Enlarged heart can also be normal in some well trained athletes. I doubt a Chest X-ray would provide any useful information. You need to see the doctor to have these complaints evaluated. Your doctor will likely check blood tests and an EKG. Your doctor may also consider a 24-48 hour heart monitor, stress test and ultrasound of the heart (Echocardiogram) depending on the results of the other tests. I would suggest you get evaluated by your doctor regarding these complaints before you begin an exercise regimen. If you know you are unhealthy, then try to change your ways.

Panic attack or Antibiotic reaction !!!! I am scared!!?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I have been suffering from Sinus infection from last 1 month. Doctor prescribed me amoxcilin and then z-pack which I finished on Tuesday.

Yesterday night when I was studying suddenly my heart started palpitating and I had really bad shortness of breath. I just couldn’t breath.
My Dad took me to ER.
I had this for 4 hours and all of a sudden it got better while I was waiting there.

At one time I was just gonna pass out.
I also had my physical last week and everything came out fine including blood test.

Doctor in ER examined me and said I had either panic attack or indigestion.
I never had this experience before and now I am scared of being alone.

I think it was reaction of Azythromicin ???

Any suggestions ?

Since the symptoms of a panic attack and medication allergies are similar it is a good idea that you went to the ER. If the doctor confirmed that you had a panic attack and NOT a reaction he is probably right. An allergic reaction usually lasts several hours, if not days, and includes hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, dizzines, and fainting. Check the information that was included with your z pack Rx and find out what the symptoms of overdose or allergic reaction are.

can any harm come out of this? (panic attack question)?

my sister gets panic attacks.

lately, she has been getting them to where she will shake uncontrollably.it wont be like convulsions or anything…more like full body shivers if she was cold but she isnt, just having a panic attack.

anyways, she wants to know if any physical harm can come out of this? it usually lasts about 5 minutes and then the panic attack goes away.

its seems like her panic attack symptoms have changed as she has learned how to control them (when she didnt know how to control them she would panic and make it worse then she would basically get up and start pacing and panicking, now she will lay in bed and try to calm down still feeling nauseas but is getting shakes)

they will usually happen to her at night when her anxiety is usually higher but not in the day time.her anxiety is always worse at nigth and she has no clue why.
she doesent want to go on prescriptions or go to a doctor.i tried to convince her but she refuses.

When I was young I used to get panic attacks almost every night. I would also shake uncontrollably. They are terrifying but completely harmless. It feels like your going to die but you’re fine. Mine were always at night too, but I don’t know why.

A good technique I learned is to take an object and describe it out loud as if to a blind person, in as much detail as possible. It really worked for me and I haven’t had a panic attack in years. Tell your sister to try this, it might work for her as well. I added a link to a good sight, do some research. Knowledge is power.

Anxiety/Panic Attack Question?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Hey, all. I am a 17 year old kid, and I am very healthy i went to get a physical last week, and my blood pressure was 107 with 60 for heart rate. 3 Days ago, i experianced my first panic attack. I got so scared that i was shaking and thinking that i cant breathe and really i started shaking so hard. Now 3 days later, it’s still on my mind and everytime i think of it it upsets me so bad.. but when it’s off my mind i am normal with friends, then when it comes up for some reason i go very depressed. That night, i drank a whole "sunkist" before bed after work and i ate some sweet stuff.. and also i was fighting over the internet with my best friend she was upseting me. And i was like okay no more, so i just went to bed, and a thought came to my mind, what if the world lost oxygen, and do i belong on earth, and do i have to breathe all my life.. and all that, then i get that huge panic attack saying omg i stopped breathing, which realy i haven’t and i am breathing so perfectly. now it’s on my head, but everytime it’s on my head i dont get a panic attack i get anxious little bit and it passes.. the heart beat increases.. sorry for this long question, but can anyone give me some tips.. i dont want a doctor or anything i just want it to go away?

when you went for your check up ~what did the dr. suggest you do for these attacks? You may need to become a bit more physical as in exercise some people claims it works for them~as for me i just talk my self out of them?

Does anyone experience anxiety attacks, rather than panic attacks?

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I dont know how common it is, but isnt it possibly to have anxiety ‘attacks’ but without the physical symptoms – just where something catches your worry out of nowhere for a few hours at a time?

Heck yah. Here’s what I see the difference as (I will use personal experience to explain):

a) anxiety–worrying too much about this or that that happened throughout the day, or what this person thinks of me, etc., to the point where I totally cannot relax and I am obsessing, but not necessarily with a racing heart and all that jazz

b) panic attack–I walk into the grocery store and instantly feel like I am going to die, and have to tell myself silently "it’s okay, there is nothing to worry about, you’re fine," etc. Normally this happens if I have had too much sugar.

Is there any physical illness that causes anxiety or any other mental disorder?

i was diagnosed with borderline personality years ago, the mental health system up to now has FAILED me and im still struggling to get the help and care i need at the age of 31 ..

i have ptsd symptoms , all the symptoms and want to be tested and diagnosed for it, as well as the borderline , i also suspect bipolar , as i have some bipolar symptoms – racing thoughts everyday, cant concentrate or hold a thought…..forget constantly……thoughts scattered everywhere….struggle to organize.

i have badanxiety, obsessive thoughts and worries , hyper vigillant outside…on edge…get panic attacks and palpitations…….struggle with a lot of rage and anger still……..years ago used to have involuntary outbursts of rage that used to ” take over ” me outside……just before the outbursts , id remember my thoughts racing badly, feel extremely anxious, hyper vigillant……feel paranoid that people were threatening me……used to struggle with a hostile angry posture….threatening…..on guard , then id just ‘ lose it ‘ – and start attacking people , lashing out……..making a public scene.

that was many years ago now, i controlled the outburst all by myself, without any psychiatric help…….and since then been searching for proper care and help…………….and via the internet, been trying to research my symptoms and whats wrong with me..

i put it down so far to my diagnosis years ago of BPD, – which i accept, but also know i have PTSD, and put alot of the symptoms because of that, im also wondering if bipolar plays a part to.

i have symptoms that bpd doesnt cover, throughout my life ive suffered great psychological abuse , a few physical attacks including a head injury in a street attack, when i lost control of rage in 1997 , my skull was never cracked, but the skin torn open on top, ive also suffered constantly being victimized in life.

alot of people wouldnt of been able to take the stuff what i took and still with stand.

recentley i stumbled on a question here which made me think, could any of my symptoms be caused by physical illness ? – ie : thyroid problems ?
if they were , what would i do about it ? how would i get tested ?, and what would i ask to be tested for ?

here was the question :

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgMD2nL9y3_.5MQVlQJ_cj3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090322142249AAA3WB7

it was only short and there was only one answer.

does anyone know anything physical that can cause all those psychiatric symptoms ?

im not looking for a deep, emotional answer to this question just knowledge.

A chemical imbalance in your brain.

Should I see the doctor about this (Panic attack possibility)?

Quite a lot I start to panic thinking something is going to go wrong in my relationship or summut when things are fine. This seems to be getting worse. And I was in hospital last week for an operation and it was after the operation I started to have trouble breathing when I had a oxygen mask on. I took the mask off which made a little bit of an improvement. I felt like I was being suffocated even though I wasnt having physical problems breathing. It all started when after the operation the small cut in my groin started to bleed again and I was wondering if I would be able to leave the next day as that was originally planned. In the end I was walking fine the next day and i was able to go home. But before then during the night i kept calling the nurses cuz I was panicing cuz I was missing my friends and wasn’t sure if I would still be able to go home the next day. I freak out very easily and I get insomnia a lot. I hate life and i want to die young. Nothing much seems to be going well. I have been feeling like this ever since october 2008 and Ive often gone out to get drunk because I want a short life.
thanks millions

Panic Attacks & Weird Thoughts?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I have panic disorder. I’ve had my panic attacks under control for about 4 months now. But now once and awhile, instead of having a panic attack, I start having weird thoughts. I don’t know how to explain it. They’re just totally ridiculous, irrational thoughts, but in that short moment they seem so real and scary. And make me feel like I’m crazy. But I don’t have the physical symptoms of panic attacks anymore. Are these thoughts related to my panic disorder? I’m thinking they are because I have them mostly at night which is when I’d have panic attacks. Does anyone else with panic disorder experience weird thoughts even when not having an attack?

I also have panic disorder, and have weird thoughts and my mind races at times, especially during times of stress, and not necessarily when having a panic attack. As others have mentioned, you should tell your Doctor or counselor. Are you taking any medication? I take Prozac and Imiprimine, and many people have nightmares while taking SSRI’s. I know I do!! I awake from these dreams, and they seem so real that many times it takes a day or two to get over them. Anyways, I don’t think you’re crazy, you’re probably just under a little stress, and this is the symptom that’s occurring right now. Good luck to you, you have my prayers and thoughts!
