Controlling panic attacks?
From the beginning of last year I’ve started to have panic attacks, they came out of nowhere. I’m pretty scared during them, trouble breathing, fast heart rate, numbness, shaking during and after. They’re usually triggered by stress and anxiety, I just need some advice on how to control them, or even prevent them before they get beyond easy control. Thank you.
I’ve lived with panic attacks for over 11 years and definately know what you are going through. You can learn to ward them off before they get too serious. Please see my link. And I wish you the best of luck.

First be sure they are panic attacks and not symptoms of other illness.
We are a family of panic attack people and know how awful they are. It is very frightening. My daughter takes anti-anziety meds. My son stopped drinking beer altogether. He goes to AA now and is doing great. I am diabetic and the attacks feel the same as low blood sugar; Does it help if you drink orange juice?
I hope you find the answer soon.

Hi,
My panic attacks started 4 yrs ago.
First, I went to my Dr and had a series of tests done to make sure that it wasn’t something else.
For me it would seem as though I would get so scared and it would make it worse. I went to a therapist and she really helped me to see that it was "just" a panic attack. It will NOT hurt me.
As soon as I would feel one coming on I would get so scared and now (as hard as it is) I try to take myself down and just sort of "go with the flow".
Deep breathing is such a HUGE help. When I feel an attack coming on I just try to calm myself down, if possible go to a quiet room and breathe through it. I also work to remember that it will NO hurt me.
If I am out with my family I do my best to continue on with what I was doing. I tell my husband (just so he is aware) and continue on..
I don’t know how you feel about medication but I take klonopin as needed. It helps me if I am having a really anxious day and sometimes when I feel a panic attack coming on.

that’s called a silent heart attack the best thing you can do is calm down breath – have you tried to take magnesium? ask your doctor also about potassium and alkaline.
Hope this helps – remember – everything in moderation – women can have up to 310 mg of magnesium a day but if you go any higher that’s dangerous. I take magnesium tablets once a day 250mg (safe levels)
Again ask your doctor I am only trying to inform not direct you to take it – a doctor will ring a bell know if it’s safe or not.

I believe if you get a lot more nutrients in your diet it can help – just make sure to ask your doctor the max or minimum amounts.

i suffer from panic attacks as well. i would suggest seeing a psychiatrist to get medication. i have been on 75 mg of effexor xr and 0.5 mg of klonopin 3 times a day and i have never felt better. i tried everything before, but nothing worked and some medications made me gain weight. email me if you have any questions. i’d be glad to help.

As sad as it may sound, I just learned to accept them. When it starts, I sit down and wait for it to pass, controlled breathing helps alot, and figuring out triggers and finding away to deal with them. Do make sure to see a doctor, sometimes heart conditions mimic panic attacks and are set off by stress as well. Avoid caffeine at all costs as well.

These are often caused by hormonal imbalances, and you should have your thyroid , sex, adrenal, cortisol levels checked… and be aware taht the normal ranges are usually so huge that all but the most severe cases are considered abnormal…
You need a doc that specialized in this and i am giving you resources below, or justask a naturopathic doc trained in this to hellp you
