Could these attacks be some warning of a physical illness?

I get something similar to a panic / anxiety attack, it happens at night and lasts 5 mins but sometimes the whole night. I feel out of breath, my heart beats fast and I lose all sensation in my limbs, I get cold sweats and chills, and my limbs are ice cold. I keep calm by praying. I am on anti-psychotic medication.

Could these attacks be some warning of a physical illness? Also, am I on the right medication? Thanks.

If it happens while you’re sleeping and wakes you up….it could be sleep apnoea.
With apnoea, you actually stop breathing and the adrenalin rush your body produces can emulate a panic attack.

Like most of the folks answering this question suggest, see your doctor please.

I would be more apt to suspect your medication. Talk to the doctor who prescribed these meds.

See you doctor. It sounds like you are having reactions to your medication.

Sounds like you are having panic attacks and the medicine is not working well enough. You may need a higher dose or a different medicine.

This sounds as being either medication-related, i.e. an undesired side-effect of the drugs you are taking, or as another manifestation of the psychosis you are being treated for. In any case, I wouldnot suspect a physical illness here. You may want to investigate – or have investigated – whether you are suffering from PTSS ( Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome ), a disorder that can surface years after having undergone a major traumatic event, e.g. bombing, assault, sudden loss etc.
