Difference between panic attack and heart conditions?
Its exams and I can’t sleep normally. Heart rate is quite fast. Was wondering if this could be a panic attack. Cause I’ve got a family hist fro heart conditions. I’m 16, female. Can’t tell the diff between panic attack and heart conditions, need answer=) Thanks!
if you were having a true panic attack, believe me you would know it. A panic attack is when you feel like you have no control over your body. Your heart races and you feel like you are helpless. You have an overwhelming sense of doom and gloom. You are scared, nervous, all at the same time. You have a temporary sense of severe anxiety so bad you feel like you are getting ready to die. As far as a heart condition goes, there are many symptoms like chest pain, fast heart rate, sweating, shortness of breath. At your wonderful age of 16, you might have alittle fast heart rate dues to being nervous about your exam and that is normal. When you dont get enough sleep that usually just makes you more nervous. If you are really worried have your parents make an appointment with a doctor.

Hey, I understand how you feel…
The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, "jelly" legs, extreme alertness, "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I’ve been there. I’m an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn’t work – a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.
Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work – I’ve tried them and their solutions are similar – it DOESN’T WORK.
Medications do NOT work – I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same – no improvement at all.

Signs of cardiac distress include:
Difficulty for you to walk anywhere, but especially up a flight of stairs.
Any shortness of breath
Dizzyness upon standing
Episodes of fainting or feel faint
Ringing sound in the ears
Unexplained drowsiness
Difficulty breathing (which may be relieved by sitting upright)
Discomfort, sometimes relieved by sitting upright or leaning forward
Fainting, light-headedness
Pale, gray, or blue skin
Palpitations
Rapid breathing

I had panic attacks for 30 years. Back then the doctors said "its all in your head". Thank God, I have them no more!!!!!
