Does anyone else have panic attacks when you are one on one with a friend at home?
So, my friend Chris and I go to school together. His car is in the shop, so I always drive. And we work together. That’s where we met. I have had severe anxiety my whole life, including social anxiety. He was locked out of his house today. So he came over to mine for about and hour and a half. I knew he was not going to be there long. But he is the first friend to be over at my house in years, and the last time ended in a bad panic attack.
After like 10 minutes of being home, I felt a pit in my stomach and felt the panic on. I took my Ativan, and went upstairs to the bathroom for like 10-15 minutes. While he talked with my Mom. I felt better once my Dad and brother came home. Like I wasn’t totally on the spotlight.
I am a self harmer, and I ended up scratching myself up a bit, just to distract myself from the fear. Does anyone else get this way when a friend is over? How do you deal with it?
Um i don’t really feel like that, but i feel atad uncomfortable because someone is in my total comfort zone.

I have panic attacks with my family, and friends also when I’m alone.
They show up when the show up and unfortunately that is the nature of this disorder.
Harming your self doesn’t help and won’t stop the panic, you have to wait until the Ativan kicks in.
I just tell my family and friends "I don’t feel well and need my medication, I should be better in about 15 minutes" nothing for you(meaning them) to worry about.
