Well to be honest its hard to do it on your own i talked to someone for about 6 months and she told me to meditate and take deep breaths and count to ten which helped sometimes but if they are out of control you should go to the doctor and get on some meds…. they will help

i do deep breathing exercises. and i go play pool or take target practice. what ever i find relaxing that day. sometimes i just scream and it releases the tension.

Its probably not wat u want to hear but i faced my fears. i just accepted the panic attacks and did it anyway and eventually they get less and less

general anxiety d/o is rare and difficult to treat, normally associated with other psychiatric d/o, mainly depression and/or phobia; medication can be of some help, but additional approaches are essential, like CBT and exposition therapy.
funnily enough, in my experience a tablet of diaszepam in your purse also helps sometime.
emanuels suggestions are also worth considering.
