Having a panic attack about getting a blood clot, please help?
I have panic attacks when I feel pain or something amiss in my body. I’m an otherwise healthy, 19 year old female. Right now I’m panicking because I’m scared that I’m going to suddenly drop dead from a blood clot/Pulminory embolism because my legs have been feeling painful, very hard (muscle cramps I suppose) and look somewhat bruised. I can’t think of any reason why, I haven’t injured myself in any way.
So my question is, I haven’t had surgery, am not obese, pregnant or elderly (I read those are some groups at increased risk) am I going to suddenly get a blood clot or am I just having a panic attack in which case if I know I’m not going to die from a blood clot I’ll be ok since I know how to deal with panic attacks only when I believe it is a panic attack and nothing else.
Thank you
You are suffering from a panic attack called "fear of death",
You really need not worry about this as panic attacks are harmless and cause no damage. Just be your self and ignore the feeling you get.

Do you take birth control pills? I do know that blood clots can occur if you take birth control..Although, I’m not sure how likely it is to occur…Either way, just to be safe, why don’t you go and see your doctor and let him/her know what symptoms you’re having…Hope everything turns out ok for you…

my doctor told me it is less likely for female to get stroke or pulmonary disease as we menstruate monthly. We have new replenish blood each month. I used to have panic attack before going to work after not been working for years. I counsel myself off by telling myself that is nothing serious and I can handle whatever that comes my way. If I can’t handle it is OK too – no big deal. Watch the attack until it subsided. If you can, try meditation. It would help.

Easy brusing is common with thyroid problems. But it’s very hard to figure out if you have Thyroid or Adrenal problems. The panic attack is what caght my attention with your question. If you are worried about death and are afraid anytime you feel like something is wrong, it sounds like anxiety. Trust me, I know a lot about this. I started having panic attacks almost 10 years ago. The Doc’s gave me different meds to try to "fix" this problem. They sent me to a shrink and a counselor. They put me on Effexor- the worst thing I’ve ever allowed to be done to me. They were all just band-aids for the problem. Nothing ever fixed it. I Got the Lucinda Basset tapes for panic attacks- did nothing for me- did tons of research and finally met a doctor who had a brain!!! She gave me a saliva test for adrenal fatigue. Turns out panic attacks are caused by certain deficiencies in the body such as low Epinephrine, high Cortisol, Doapamine, Serotonin. Tell your doctor to order this test for you. It is the only real way to find out what’s actually wrong so that they can fix it. I swear I think doctors must be taking kick backs from the drug companies so they just keep us medicated instead of trying to fix the real problem and help us.
Test info:
"Neuro Adrenal 1 Profile" test from Neuro Science, Inc. 373 280th street, Osceola, WI 54020 Phone: 1-888-342-7272 http://www.neuroadrenalinc.com
The test consists of 3 small tubes for saliva collection and opne small vial for urine. You take the test from home and then mail back to the lab with the pre-paid postage. They send the results to your doctor, who then should give you a copy. Good luck!! And help spread the word.

It is probably just muscle cramps. Are your legs really looking bruised or could it just be because your letting yourself get upset about it? Don’t worry chances are at your age with no other health issues it’s nothing more than cramps. Could be as simple as just from being cold. If it continues I would have it checked out just to ease your mind. Until then I would just write it off to panic.
