ok so i want to quit smoking marijuana. the only reason why i started smoking was because ever since i moved out on my own i have severe panic attacks and marijuana was the only cure it seemed. here is the typical panic attack for me. i am sitting in class takin a quiz or something and all of a sudden i feel sick to my stomach and its hard to breath sometimes i dry heave because i cant breathe. is this a panic attack because i typed these symptoms in and thats what popped up. should i go see my primary doctor or a psychologist for help. i really need to quit smoking weed and since its the only thing that i tried that helped are there other alternatives

Stop the weed & quickly make an appt. to see a good doctor or counselor. I suffered for 22 yrs. & just know that you will NOT die! I learned to just cup my hands over my nose & mouth & do controlled breathing. Slowly inhale & exhale in your hands. This breathing in of your carbon dioxide will help your heart rate to slow down to normal. Seek help & you will be fine…really! Blessings!

First of all, yes, these are symptoms of panic attack with underlying anxiety. Please visit a psychologist and a psychiatrist who will be of great help to you in overcomin your problem. And plz start stopping smoking weed. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear about your panic attacks…Actually smoking marijuana can cause panic attacks. Try giving it up and see if it helps. There are many medicines out there for panic attacks and you might consider seeing a Dr. and practice CBT. Hope you feel better soon.

Good, you quit smoking pot. There are people that would disagree with me, and say it has medicinal uses, but since it is still illegal just about everywhere, I think that a visit to the doctor will do you good. I have the same issues you have, and there are some great medicines out there, although some are narcotics, and have wicked side-effects when you quit taking them! I wish you luck, and hope that whether you see your primary doctor, or a doctor specializing in mental health issues, that you get the help that you are seeking

This is funny to me because in California and Canada they sometimes actually prescribe marijuana for anxiety. The strain of the marijuana is what counts. Indica is what helps alleviate anxiety whereas Sativa might make it worse. Even in ancient times they self medicated under stressful situations. I say, why quit? Just move. All the doctor is going to do is prescribe you something even more addicting like Xanax. I don’t understand why people think harmful drugs and chemicals are the right way to go when help is growing from the ground.

If you still want to quit though, try taking fish oil omega vitamins every day and eat a lot of seafood. This supports brain health which can really help anxiety.

15 years ago I smoked some and it made me have my first panic attack. It totally does the opposite for me. Maybe, you should see a physician because one day you could go to jail for using illegal drugs.
