How can I prevent panic attacks?
Okay, I used to stay inside all day and I had no friends.
That is until I met my biological father and I moved in with his sister (because he wasn’t in a position to take care of anyone yet).
So, I’m getting less shy and I go out some more, but every time I go to a restaurant, I start having panic attacks.
At first, I didn’t know what it was. I just continued socializing with others, but then I wasn’t able to eat anymore (and it would only be a few bites. They usually start after we order our food.)
Yesterday, my aunt told me that I was having panic or anxiety attacks, but apparently subconsciously, I’m okay.
I’m a little confused and worried. It doesn’t happen when I’m just sitting and chatting, or shopping. Just restaurants. Does it mean I’m subconscious about eating in front of others? I’m not that educated on panic attacks (because I’ve never had them before). Does anyone know how to prevent them or stop them? I really like being with people.
(I feel hopeless.)
i think you’re, like you said, subconsciously nervous around eating people since you never really socialized much before. i’ve only had one panic attack so I’m don’t know any suggestions for medicine, but i started exercising which took a lot of my stress away. try a light work out before you go out to eat.. it might take away some of your stress and anxiety

i dont really like resturaunts either.
i feel pretty awkward and self concious in them.
its a burden you have
christ jesus will take that away and give your another burden, but tha burden is light.
(a good burden in other words)
not only that but you will feel better than you ever have and with him, anything can be overcome.
trust me, iv experienced it.
i was far worse than you. (judging by what you’v described)

I used to feel like that.
What you need to do is start thinking about the good things in the situation you are in. if you are out to dinner with friends then think about how much those friends mean to you and how happy you are and lucky to have these friends. Also, remember that the attack is not going to kill you. And there is nothing wrong with you at all.
I hade a panic attack once in a resturant so for while everytime I decided to go out to eat i would worry I was going to have another one. What you need to do is tell yourself you are not ging to have one and if you do, then so what. Many causes of panic attacks are the fear of having another one. so if you have one, OH WELL. Let your body do what it needs ot do and remeber you are going to be ok. You will see this helps.
You also may want to contact your Dr and see what kinds of meds you may be able to get to help. A low dose of Paxil may do the trick.
Keep us posted

It is really hard to answer your question because you didn’t describe what happens to you to say if it is a panic attack or what. If it is a panic attack they are strange as to why they happen when they do, for no apparent reason. If it is a panic attack the way to overcome them is by not running away from the restaurant. The reason they get worse or never go away is because people are afraid of the feelings that come with them so they avoid where they have them. My first one I was in van on ny way to work. I thought it was the van so I avoided the van. Next one happened at work so I quit my Job. The more I ran the more frequent and worse they got. I would suggest (through personal experience ) number one DO NOT QUIT GOING TO THE RESTURANT when you go start slow maybe just order a drink. Next time order a very small meal something that doesn’t take long to eat or look huge making it seam overwhelming. If it is a panic attack it probably isn’t due to the restaurant Or food.It is just where it chose to peak its ugly head. Not to say there isn’t a reason for it at the restaurant that may be. You can try to think deep within you for the reason. But as in my case and most anxiety people I know there is no underlying reason as to why or when they pop up there ugly heads
