You may be more prone to panic attacks if you have depression or anxiety, asthma or diabetes, are taking stimulants (energy drinks or coffee and caffeine).

To get rid of the panic attacks you might want to reduce your exposure to unnecessary stress. Find ways to express your needs and assert yourself more successfully or change your lifestyle by taking regular exercise. Avoid stimulants, such as cigarettes and alcohol. Eat regular meals and avoid processed foods and drinks..

Don’t bottle up your emotions. Find someone to confide in, such as a family member or a friend. Focus on the positive aspects of your life. If you feel an attack coming on, try to distract yourself with a pleasurable task.

Also don’t depend on others for reassurance. Tell yourself you’re not dying or going mad. It’s better to rely on yourself than others.

Accept and face your feelings during an attack. They will become less intense.

I hope everything turns out well and if you ever have another panic attack tell someone or contact someone.

First, relax your shoulders and become conscious of any tension that you may be feeling in your muscles.
Then, with gentle reassurance, progressively tense and relax all the large muscle groups. Tighten your left leg with a deep breath in, for example, hold it, then release the leg muscles and the breath. Move on to the other leg. Move up the body, one muscle group at a time.
Slow down your breathing. This may best be done blowing out every breath through pursed lips as if blowing out a candle. Also, place your hands on your stomach to feel the rapidity of your breathing. This may allow you to further control your symptoms.
Tell yourself (or someone else if you are trying this technique with someone) that you are not "going crazy." If you are concerned about not being able to breathe, remember that if you are able to talk, you are able to breathe.

For the love, do not smoke weed like the other person said. Weed may help some people with some things. It helped me with Depression & Anorexia but it is not good for panic attacks it will make it so much more intense. Talk to your doctor about this. My doctor put me on Zoloft & for a low dose of Xanax for when I have an attack. Don’t go & take Xanax or any drug until you talk to your doctor first because you may take the wrong dosage or may have a bad reaction. I have a bad reaction to Valium (another anti-anxiety med) when you start feeling like that try your best not to start daydreaming or thinking about anything upsetting, stay in the here & now the best you can. Keep your mind busy for a little bit on something not stressful even something as simple as a game on your cell phone or a crossword puzzle until it passes. If it starts getting to severe make sure you are focusing on breathing right, deep breaths, breathing into a paper bag helps too & sit down because you can actually pass out. If you start getting hot flashes cool yourself down with a splash of cold water to the face. Peppermints are also good if you get the sick stomach.
