Usually I will use Xanax but my prescription is out.

Uggh — that’s the worst. Some people can control panic attacks with yoga and exercise. I say call your doctor to refill your prescription.

Try good old Lamaze breathing, draw in a breath through your nose let it out slow to the count of 10 through your mouth, really concentrate and relax at the same time.

Have you tried yoga or anything like that that might teach you how to control your mind and body when you start having attacks.

depends what you’re panicked about. I’ve seen on tv where a person can been re-trained to not be fearful (without medication). Look for a specialist in the field. Or maybe what you’re panicked about you might train yourself out of, if you are out of the medicine. Good luck.

By the way I understand that vitamins and minerals play a strange part in our lives and cure a lot of things we have or get. Try taking them on a regular basis and see if that helps any.

I would reccomend hypnosis, you can learn to do it yourself.

Tincture of hops. You can get it at a health food store. It takes effect in about 5 minutes, a lot faster than xanax.

Take in long breathes and hold each one for 10 seconds the exhale slowly.
You need to have silence and close your eyes and think of some happy time in your life and just go there in your mind. This is what I was taught to do whenever I have panic attacks which are real bummers.
I may not have put it in the right order but I hope you can figure this out because if you have faith in yourself you can do this and just relax for as long as it takes but I swear this does help.
Good luck and take it easy on those Xanax as I’ve been down that road too and still am but don’t need them so often as I can do some relaxing the other way. I’m not saying it will work each and every time but it will help you get through each day.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a place where you had a good experience. Put your hand on your stomach. Take a deep breath through your nose, forcing your stomach up and hold for a few seconds and then let the breath out slowly through your mouth. Repeat the process over and over. You have control over your breathing, concentrate on that for awhile and then see how you feel.

I agree with the suggestions about breathing exercises and yoga. I have not tried yoga myself but have heard it highly recommended. I know from personal experience you will find the breathing exercises especially helpful and I can also recommend hypnotherapy. If you can’t afford to pay a hypnotherapist (although they are not always particularly expensive) then you may be able to get a good hypnotherapy tape or CD. My favourite is Glenn Harrold – he has a range, including "Complete Relaxation". I have a number of his tapes/CDs, but I did go to a hypnotherapist myself about a few issues I had, including severe stomach pains when I became even mildly anxious. I only had three sessions – that was in October 2002 and I have been fine ever since. By the way, "being hypnotised" does not always involve feeling that you have been fast asleep and unaware of what is going on. I just felt profoundly relaxed but quite conscious and aware of where I was, who I was, and who was talking to me, and what she was saying. Even though I did not "feel hypnotised", the therapy worked wonderfully and I would thoroughly recommend it.

You need to teach yourself when an attack isa starting you need to stop- breath deeply and try to relax. Life is not meant to be so pressing that you panic. I enjoy thr outside and that gives me alaot of peace.
