How can panic attack cause heart arrest?
a person was suffering from congestive heart failure (cor pulmonale due to COPD) and i am wondering if high anxiety/panic attack could have lead to cardiac arrest as person died
if so, in which way (how did this happen) ?
this happened after 4 days of flu-related COPD exacerbation .
i could also imagine some sudden walk excercise added up to the heart failure?
A panic attack is usually caused by a surge of adrenaline brought on by the fight or flight syndrome, this usually subsides within 10 minutes and the heart returns to normal. They are frightening but rarely cause fatalities.

ive been told that it cant. panic attacks lead the sufferer to believe they are having a heart attack by sending out physical symptoms but its actually totally something different.
read up on panic attacks. they are actually NOT dangerous but the person having them thinks it is someting bad happening.

People who have congestive heart failure often go through spells when their condition gets dramatically worse and they can’t breathe. They feel like they are smothering. This then leads to a great deal of anxiety because they can’t breathe. The more anxious they get, the worse their breathing becomes. It is not the anxiety that kills them but may contribute to the worsening of their congestive heart failure. Delayed treatment of congestive heart failure is what usually kills someone.

I don’t know how a panic attack can cause a heart arrest in terms of medical proof. But I have heard that panic attacks are a sign that you could have a heart attack in the future.
You have to have panic attacks to really know what is meant by it and there are levels of severity. In my case I get them in my sleep in reaction to my dreams usually the frightening ones. It wakes me up and it is like my heart stops then reboots at a racing speed in combination with my breathing. So you gasp for breath, it is frightening but you get over it fairly quickly. Personally I can see how that can be a lead up to heart attack in the future. But not all panic attacks are alike for everyone.

Panic attacks in general do NOT cause heart attacks. That is a misunderstanding that many people have.
Very few heart attacks result directly from panic attacks.
Panic attacks can force upon your heart the equivalent of a cardiovascular exercise like running or jogging. Hence, the speedy heartbeat.
However, studies have shown this is extremely rare so you have nothing to worry about.
