Hi,
I can’t take alcohol or any other medication. I’m not afraid of the plane crashing, turnulence, or terrorist. I am afraid of having a panic attack because I am stuck for a set duration of time and can’t get out. What do you suggest.

Thanks to everyone for their help!

listen to music or watch tv, take a nap, or do crossword puzzles. Read a book or write a letter……..Good Luck

Don’t focus on where you are, but what you are doing.

the best thing would probably be to bring something with you that will relax you and keep your mind off of it! try bringing some music or a portable dvd player, or books/magazines/crossword puzzles.

me too. Breathe slowly and consciously. Have a book or magazine that will distract you. Stand and go to the restroom as needed to give you a feeling of space even if you don’t need the facilities. enjoy the view if possible. Get on the plane in a tired but not over-tired state and try to sleep thru it.

well you might try reading a book or talk to the person next to you so that you take your mind off of it im not really sure though,or go to sleep.OH!you could go to the store get a cd that has sound affects on it like children laughing and running or something and then you fall asleep thinking that your not in a confined space. good luck. hope i could help!

Do you have this same problem on the train or bus?

I would recommend sitting by a window and the cramped sensation will go away. Also lots of Airports offer a course for people that are scared of flying which you sit down with a physiologist and the pilot and they talk you through the flight and answer any question before you take a short flight round the local area.
