how do you cure needle phobia?
i have to get a shot tomorrow, but i have mild needle phobia. i get panic attacks and feel sick. what can i do to cure this phobia?
None of of like to get shots, but I understand what you mean..I used to HATE needles..I learned to take my kids along when I knew I was getting a shot because I knew I wouldn’t throw a fit with them along..lol..I would without them..I was a bigger baby than they were.
Then I was diagnosed with MS and I have to give myself shots 3 nights a week..I have gotten used to it now..each shot stings for about 10 seconds..that’s less than a minute of discomfort a week to keep me out of a wheelchair..small price to pay really.
Just look away and count to ten..it will be over with..
PS..tonight is a shot night, so I can sympathize with ya

acu-phobia, can be cured by hypnosis. As you don’t have the time i suggest you don’t look and think of something calm

I know this sounds hard to do, but you just have to suck it up and give yourself a shot and you’ll figure out it doesn’t hurt that much. Trust me I have to take them every night.

Tomorrow is awfully quick to suddenly try to stop being afraid, otherwise I would suggest systematic desensitization. Just know and keep reminding yourself that it isn’t going to cause harm and that it is good for your health.

Take a xanax before you go. Or bring a little kid with you, so they don’t see you acting like a big baby. I’m just playing with you.
Maybe try some deep breathing, it actually helps me to watch.

Hey, I’m on the same boat, I usually start crying when I have to get a shot or bloodwork done, or even going to the dentist.
What I usually do, is tell the person right away that it makes me nervous, and they can be pretty helpful about it. Sometimes they will bring someone in to talk to me/distract me, and I stare at the wall or out the window and JUST DONT LOOK…. not at them preparing the needle, or ANYTHING. I still get a little upset, but it keeps me from absolutely freaking out.

I know it sounds silly, but it DOES help! Good luck, and ITS OKAY

You have to get over the fear by facing the fear. But who wants to face it head on? Not many people.
Try not making a big deal out of it and tell yiour self "in a matter of seconds it will be over. And it’s simple as that." Do not look at the needle either and talk to the doctor who is administering the shot.
Good luck.
