How do you get over panic attacks?
My anxiety/panic disorder and agoraphobia are making me miserable. How have other people gotten through this?
First, you want to educate yourself on what anxiety / panic disorders are and what its all about. The more you know, the better you will be able to help yourself avoid having them. Second, talk to your family doctor. There are many different kinds of medication that you can take to help. I suffer from panic disorder. I have been taking medication for several years with little to no side effects and it has help tremendously. You can get lots of into on line or at the library or from your doctor that can help you.

Best thing to do when having an anxiety attack is to breathe in deep soothing breaths and then release them slowly through your nose. In and out calmly.

Here’s what I do: When I get anxious or start a panic attack I place my palm on my heart and actually FEEL my heartbeat. I remind myself that panic attacks don’t kill. I keep my palm against my heart to remind myself that I am in control of my heartbeat, not the panic. Then I breathe slowly, staying aware of my heart. If it gets worse, I get to a bathroom stall or into a bathroom, where I can be alone. I know from long experience it won’t kill me, it’s just scary. If I’m inside of my home, I pet one of my animals. Petting animals lowers your blood pressure and relaxes you. And finally, strangely enough, if my panic attack gets too bad, I brush my teeth. Sounds odd, but works for me!

I’d like to know the same thing. I have panic attacks and sometimes they ruin my whole day, they suck the energy out of me and make me want to avoid the world. Doctors always say "There’s nothing that can help, just learn how to cope."
Life is not easy.

my friend used to have key words to stop her from having them
just like trigger words, and when u say them to urself, or get someone else to say then for you when u feel one coming on, then it helps them to go
