How long can a panic attack last?

I Have panic disorder and this attack seems to be lasting forever..

Attacks can go on for hours, sorry to say.
I assume you are under the care of a psychiatrist and taking medication.
What works for you when you are in a state?
I know breathing exercises help.
I know concentrating on almost anything other than yourself helps.
Why are you panicking?
I stop and think about what could be making me nervous.
I walk myself through what is going on in my life.
I have a good job, my children are grown, my house is paid for, etc.
What there is to worry about seems to be what can’t be controlled.
I have to give my concerns to a higher authority.
I also have a friend I can call to help me, if needed.
I also write ~ excellent therapy.
I will be thinking about you tonight and hoping you are calming down.

It depends , i also suffer from panic disorder and i have had attacks that last for 2-4 hours reoccurring , and i am sure it could go longer. It’s like a cycle , you have an attack , then have more attacks from symptoms you get from the first attack. That’s how it is for me anyways. Try to find someone to talk to or listen to some relaxing music.

How often are you getting this? Have you been told by a doctor you have a panic disorder? Did they do a thorough check of your hormones? Generally, panic and anxiety are hormone related. Get a thyroid check, as well as the other hormones.You’ll keep getting this unless it’s properly treated.

You and You are the only person who can help face your fears. When you get panic attacks, excuse yourself and go into a bathroom or an open space, breath deeply and remind yourself that there is nothing to panic about. To stop your panic attacks, get yourself busy, go to the gym, work, do community service, etc. Do things that do not pose a problem to you.

Oh gosh, I’ve had one that lasted for two hours.

Comedy seems to help. Even if I can’t really concentrate on it, the happy vibes help. Eddie Izzard especially :)

i get panic attacks like 3 times a day there mild but they last like 30 to 45 minute but it seems like foever
i usually get under my blanket and wait till they pass but i just started medication
i hope you get better
