my friend just flipped out, yelling that he needed the yellow that was a sleeping bag covering his head. we repeatedly tried to coax him out of this… trance? even hitting him in the testicles just made him giggle. It was really weird; no drugs were involved, and he has no recollection of it whatsoever. any idea of how this happened or how to restore memory?
none of the advice below has helped, maybe it wasnt a panic attack then.

I really don’t think that it was a panic attack…

Symptoms of panic attacks include:

An extremely unpleasant sensation of adrenaline over the entire body
Sweating
Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
Racing or pounding heartbeat or palpitations
Chest pain
Dizziness or vertigo
Lightheadedness
Nausea / stomach pains
Hyperventilation
Choking or smothering sensations
Uncontrollable itching
Tingling or numbness in the hands, face, feet or mouth (paresthesia)
Hot/cold flashes
Trembling or shaking
Feeling of claustrophobia
Exhaustion
Feeling of physical weakness or limpness of the body.
Uncontrollable crying
Loss of the ability to react logically to stimuli
Loss of cognitive ability in general
Racing thoughts (often based on fear; a repeated or illogical worry)
Loud internal dialogue
Feeling of impending doom
Feeling of "going crazy"
Extreme worried feeling
Feeling of extreme nervousness
Feeling out of control
Terror, or a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it
Fear that the panic is a symptom of a serious illness
Fear of losing control
Fear of death
Fear of going crazy
Flashbacks to earlier panic trigger
Tunnel vision
Heightened senses
The apparent slowing down or speeding up of time
Dream-like sensation or perceptual distortion (derealization)
Dissociation, or the perception that one is not connected to the body or is disconnected from space and time (depersonalization)

I strongly suggust that your friend seeks help from a professional such as a doctor, councillor, psycologist or a psychietrist.

Steady deep even breaths into a paper bag usually works for a panic attack but i’m not sure that what you describe was one

Breath, let him have his attack then after he will calm down. It might not even be good to calm down in middle of attack.

I have had panic attacks and no,i can tell you, this was not a panic attack, your friend needs to go to the doctor to explain this incident, you were hitting him & he was still able to giggle so i’m not sure what happened, please coax him to the doctor,it could be an anxiety attack, anything.

i would have to say that was deffinatly not a panic attack. if he was in a trance and there were no drugs involved that could be more like a siezure. people can yell out strange things when they have them, has he been detoxing from drugs because that too can make people act out. i would deffinatly have him go see the doc and maybe if it happens again i would call 911 because that sounds more like a siezure to me. oh had he had a head injury recently? that can cause issues too. hope that this helps and in this case he probably won’t remember what he did either. but encourage him to see a doc. hope that this helps

If I’m ever so flipped out that I decide I need to hide in a yellow sleeping bag for a while, I hope no one hits ME in the testicles….
