Has anyone found an easy way to ease panic attacks? I get them when I have to speak in front of people- mainly when going down a line and im anticipating my turn. I started taking ST. Johns Wart as it says its for nervousness- though its just a herb and not sure I believe too much in it. Any suggestions?

YES! I have cured my panic attacks for the most part. I used to get them everyday. It was all in how I think. Constant thoughts of negativity and "what ifs". I can relate to your anxiety from waiting in line. I would get panic attacks waiting to talk to people as well.

My answer was to STOP THINKING THE WAY THAT I DID! Simple! I paid 300.00 for video tapes and books about panic disorder to discover that this is the answer. If your inner dialogue is like what mine was, Instead of filling your mind with "what ifs" tell yourself:

I can’t change the past
I can change my attitude
I can change me now
I can teach myself to stop thinking the negative way that I do
I am intelligent, creative and capable
I am open to learning new skills
It’s just anxiety

Also, breathing is a great help. Breathe in for 5 and out for 8. It tricks our brains into switching off our flight or fight responses. I wish you the best and think positive!

If you have to speak in front of people frequently, you might try talking to your doctor. There are short-term anti-anxiety drugs that may be of use to you if your anxiety is limited to specific situations. Some of these drugs are addictive though, so if your anxiety is affects you on a more consistent basis, a long-acting anti-anxiety drug will more likely to be prescribed.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is extremely helpful for anyone who suffers with situation-specific anxiety. If you have insurance to cover a few visits to a counselor, I would highly recommend it.

Hurting people hurt others. It’s not you. They are the ones who have a problem. They are sick and being mean makes them feel better. People/kids/parents do mean things or lie to manipulate. They just want the reaction so they can get high feel good from it. The words are not true. I know parents can say things that are true partially, but is it right to bring up the past over and over? You have to look at the agenda and not just the words alone to see the abuse sometimes. Abuse is anything that’s not uplifting so forget what truth is being used right then.

When you have a bad past/rejection/father gone it makes things start. Anorexia Bi polar, Cutting, OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, hearing voices can all come from a tramautic past. It opens doors to the negative and they start to dwell closeby, like addicitons cravings. You can talk to me or google "emotional abuse" Knowing the truth is the step to freedom from pain.

Aspartame in diet cokes ect is being linked to depression, bipolar and more it could be what you eat along with abuse or neglect.

Sickness can be a spiritual problem so praying to get rid of negative things of a spiritual nature is often needed after years of abuse. Demons in your house can make you cry for no reason even if theres no abuse.

1. Read online about verbal abuse. Read 20+ sites. BULLYING 20 sites
2. Realize its their problem.
3. Google- Diet Depression Soda stops depression from food.
4. Google "Sinners prayer"- stops sadness.
5. Google "Deliverance Prayers"

yea i agree with ‘webitgrl’
Panic attacks and anxiety can go away for anyone really who has it.You just gotta change the way you think.Like for you, your ready to give a Speech and your already grabbing a negative thing which again is perfectly normal if you suffer from this.Changing the way of thinking can be extremely hard for some people.Im 16years old and i couldn’t even go to the mall or anything even the supermarket.hell even if a person stopped me to talk to me i would hyperventilate.I simply exposed myself and i thought like "whats the worst that can happen?" so i started building confidence with that.Once you have that i guarantee you ,you will do things without thinking that your gonna get a panic attack.keeping the mind busy and always challenging it with newer things is also great.Good Luck.

One of the most effective methods used is deep breathing. The following exercise will physically, and mentally calm you.
Start out by breathing through your nose for a slow 3 count
Then hold your breath for a slow 3 count
And then exhale for a slow 3 count. You can do this as long as you want. It really helps.

Try as much as possible to decrease the speed of your breathing by seeking to relax. This should also help to ensure the right amount of oxygen gets to your brain. As a result this will help bring the anxiety or panic attack to a close more quickly.

Good luck!
