I get panic attacks often and I found the best way to treat them is to not think that your having a panic attack and just breathe normal and act like everything is okay and get some fresh air. It works for me but depending on how bad you get them, it might or might not help.

Psychologists/Psychiatrists advise circular/square breathing.
Basically, breath in for four seconds, hold for four, out for four, hold for four, repeat. Everyone I know who is given the sheet by their psychiatrist explaining this method says "all they gave me was this f***ing sheet". But I think it’s pretty useful if you can pull it off.
It’s based on a Buddhist meditation method, or at least a meditation method I’m most familiar with from Buddhists.
Otherwise, I’d suggest slowly, slowly savouring a small glass of Single Malt Scotch. These days I like Dun Bheagan 8 Year Islay. It’s smooth, has a great peat finish, and is fairly cheap. (Oh, and this importantly is not about getting drunk. It’s about slowly focusing on and pondering the flavours of the scotch.)

Paxil cured mine, but……
Force yourself to take slow, DEEP breaths. Also, there is something called (I think) ‘the vagal maneuver’ (or, ‘vegal’?). You very slowly stroke/massage up and down the carotid artery which is that big artery that travels down the right side of your neck, up to just below your ear. Do this in a slow, rhymic manner, up and down. In most cases, this will slow your racing heart down quite a bit. It worked pretty good for me. Think calm thoughts and remind yourself: "I have always survived these things, and I will get through this one, too." Good luck.

Panic attacks are generally brief, lasting less than ten minutes, although some of the symptoms may persist for a longer time. People who have had one panic attack are at greater risk for having subsequent panic attacks than those who have never experienced a panic attack.

Since many of the symptoms of panic disorder mimic those of illnesses such as heart disease, thyroid problems, and breathing disorders, people with panic disorder often make many visits to emergency rooms or doctors’ offices, convinced they have a life-threatening illness. It often takes months or years and a great deal of frustration before receiving the correct diagnosis. Many people suffering from panic attacks don’t know they have a real and treatable disorder
