I am mentally and physically exhausted from panic attacks and the medication I am on for them…..?

Does anybody know any good coping mechanisms or ways of dealing with them as I am just fed up! They are getting in the way of my life.

i found the best help was seeing a cognitive behavioral specialist – if you haven’t looked into it yet – i highly recommend it. they help much more than a regular therapist. they will teach you exactly what a panic attack is and why it affects your mind and body the way it does. once your thoroughly educated – they are not so scary – then they will teach you ways to head them off and cope with them.

Same here, there’s no instant cure, just time and a life style change, diet water exercise meditation medication, learn to avoid the stress triggers that get us here.

The meds should be stopping the panic attacks, you may need to titrate up to find an effective maintenance dose or try another ssri, Citalopram is good but they all have there little side effects.

i know how you feel, i was just the same,and the panic attacks, were getting to be 3/4 times a day . i was physically and mentally drained,i was told to try kalms you can get them over the counter in the super market. try them for 2/3 weeks. you will see a big change in yourself,I’m a much calmer,happier person now hope this helps you..all the best. xxx

psychotherapy has helped me.

I couldnt do CBT, it didnt work out for me and I wanted to deal with the real issues that caused me to panic and have attackes, I am still in therapy now but have gained so much insite that the panic attackes are not the same as they were before.
