I get anxiety when driving. Does anyone else suffer from anxiety whilst driving or from anything else?
It hits me hard when I stop at the lights or at very bad traffic. I freak out really badly and feel like a fruit loop. Just like some advice of how to prevent the panic attacks. I don’t want to be on medication and I am not depressed. I just get very frustrated with this feeling.
I have been driving for about 2 years and have a really crap car that has broken down a few times on me.
have music playing and just concentrate on it… i get the same thing ha the music will help alot!

How long have you been driving?
Even people who have been driving for many years get stressed and overwhelmed sometimes, when behind the wheel. There are many erratic drivers out there, who don’t follow the rules, race around with screaming radios, etc–and think it is all a big joke. Until someone crashes into them–or they hit and cripple someone.
Taking a few deep breaths and telling yourself ‘it’s okay–I can do this’ will help with calming you down a bit. Tell yourself you need to relax and everything will be fine.
deep breathing helps to slow the heartrate and lower the blood pressure.
The more you drive the more confident you’ll feel.
But all of us get anxious sometimes.

I have had severe panic attacks since age 6 and was housebound for 5 years. Confined spaces send me reeling, anywhere that I cant get out. Try reading books by Dr Clair Weekes, you can deal with this naturally. You will get use to it, and see that nothing will happen its all inside you not out. Trust me my panic attacks are my bff’s now so just live and tell the fear "I’m not in the mood today."

Learn, and become proficient in the anti-panic breathing techniques which are provided at http://your-mental-health.weebly.com/1.html about panic*, then see the post on anxiety, and pages h, and i. The first hypnotherapy website here* has one about driving anxiety. Bring along a recording of something you like to sing along with, and play it specifically at such times, focusing on it, and the traffic situation only.
