Since I was a little girl, I had this dream that something was chasing me in my home. I could never see it. But I could hear it. Sort of like a haunting banging sound following me everywhere. As It was scary. As I grew older the dream started to become more vivid but still the same noise with no image. I would awake in a panic. Now I don’t even need to be asleep and the sound now has a visual of someone in a dark sweatshirt with their hands wrapped around my neck. I see it and my heart pounds and the sound grows faster in my ears. All this while I am awake. I know this is some form of a panic attack. But I am now 31 years old and still occasionally experience this long term dream… and see it even when I am awake. I live a normal LifeStyle. I have 3 kids and a husband. Nothing dis functional here So why is this happening? and is it possible to see your dreams while awake?

Hey everyone,

I have Panic disorder for more than 12 years already and my condition has been improving a lot! My medication started from 20mg per day till just 10mg on alternate days (or just 5mg per day) – I even thought of quitting medication. I also realized that there are many others who have Panic Attacks out there and I decided to reach out and help them.

So I have started a blog to give free panic attack tips and techniques that have helped me for all these years:

I do hope it will help you all =)

If your are seeing/hearing something when you are not asleep, it sounds like there is something wrong. I would talk to a psychiatrist or someone else who would know enough to tell you why this might happen and if it is serious or not.

ya i have experienced that.

i call i a dark Dream were u are in a house in the middle of the night and u hear and see stuff. any noise that is boring can make u have that dream like a fan. or water running. or even static from ur tv.
(MUSIC)
its from space music. or sound that is so slow that u dream dark. make shure that there is no sound that is slow in ur house if u want music try rock to reverse that problem or fsytrance.
if that dosent help then liststin to the most upbeat music
called EURODANCE. but it makes people sleep walk.
(GHOST)
could be a ghost that u saw and it hounts u in ur sleep. belive me seing a ghost makes u feel like someone is watching u. if its this bad i would have to say its a ghost problum u had in a past that still bothres u. becaues if its so strong to last fo 20 years then it has to be the expirence that was so scary in the past.

The thing you describe hearing as a child was the wind, which can have a low moaning, banging, chasing hollow noise when its windy enough out.A tornado past our house once, and the banging, howling, moaning around my door was really scary… and I’m a grown woman. I really felt like i was being chased even though i wasn’t. it was creepy.

Also, for you, the person in the sweatshirt represents stress. LOTS of stress — everything becomes overwhelming, and thus the "panic attack". Your tiredness is just taking advantage of you.

TRUST me about the wind-thing too. It’s just as creepy as an adult as it was as a kid. 60 to 70mph gusts of wind ripped tiles right off my roof!

you should really talk to a shrink or a psychiatrist, you can trace what causes this dream. if you like you can also have Vilift, it’s non prescription and effective for panic attacks.
