i was taking citalopram 2mg 2 twice a day. i was still having panic attacks. i am bi-polar and take lamictal and seroquel also. i felt great, besides occasional anxiety for about a year. the doc put me on citalopram to help with the anxiety but i felt no relief, instead i started feeling lows. then the doc put me on xanax instead, 2 mg once a day or as needed. now i feel great.

Celexa® is also commonly prescribed for panic disorder, OCD, PTSD, and social phobia. (but usually not for Generalized Anxiety Disorder). Anxiety disorders are generally treated with medication, specific types of psychotherapy, or both. Medications for anxiety disorders include antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and beta-blockers to control some of the physical symptoms. Medication will not cure anxiety disorders, but it can keep them under control while the person receives psychotherapy.

Citalopram or cypramil is usually prescribed for depression that goes with panic attacks or anxiety. 2mg’s is a very low dosage the usual dosage is 20mg a day. Maybe you need to up the dosage to feel any benefit. There are not usually any bad side effects.
