i put on a lot of weight thru binge eating when i was suffering depression and panic attacks i was taking cbt?
sessions for this but cannot really afford it now, does anyone know how i can teach myself new habits? or any thing else that might help?
I know all to well how you feel. People I don’t think really know how hard it is to stop the cycle. Its (for those who smoke) like quiting
smoking. My best advice and I deal with this daily too. Is when the urge comes on, sit down
stop what you are doing, and think to yourself
what is making me upset right and how can I deal with this now without putting food in my mouth. I used to binge of sugar foods, it was comfort for me, it made me "feel good." If the
urge doesn’t go away, and you have to eat something, and I know we all heard this before.
Eat fruit, carrots, popcorn with no salt or butter.
Or if possible take a walk. Find something to do right away. Its hard, if you need to talk please email me. You may fail a few times I know I did, but don’t like that bring you down. Just tell yourself, take time I will try harder.

exercise is the best way. It releases endorphins Which elevate your mood and help you not to be so hungry. Even walking is good.

I would try first of all to see your G.P. I had a problem with depression and panic a few years back and was offered cbt by my doctor. Never did the course though. Also check out the Internet, I found as few free Internet based treatments available, sorry I have got the links anymore. Good luck

over the past 9yrs i have gone from a size 8 to a size 22 due to a constant change of depression pills. thay all put the weight on but the doctors dont give you ones to take it off at the same time do thay. and this weight seems harder to get rid of at the moment i am once again tryig to control what i eat. here are afew tips that were given to me, 1/ dont shop hungry , you buy rubbish 2/ look at fat content and sugar 3/try to fill up on veg and fruit 4/ if you like grapes put 10 in a plastic bag and freeze they taste like boiled sweets5/ yoghurt is a nice filler if added to chopped fruit 6/eat bran once a day that is good to fill you up. do you have a freind who needs to loose afew pound it is always easier when you have support if you fail one day there is always the next ther e is no good day to start cutting back. do it NOW even if it is tea time the sooner you start the better remember if you fall short so what start again with your next meal good luck to you (and me )

Get yourself funded by the NHS – your psychiatrist can do this for you. That will remove the funding issue.

Try eating healthier things (fruit, veg, lean meat) and taking up some excercise (walking, small weights). It will all contribute to you losing weight.

dunno…..i eat loads though and its really hard when i run out of food and have to make myself stop eating!if ur worried about puttin on wieght how about excersise?it can also help distract u and get u back on the right track.any kind of hobby is good, it gives u something constructive to fill the time where u would usually be eating. also havin regular meals helps, gives u a pattern to stick to and makes it easier in the long run. good luck!
