I think I’m experiencing Panic attacks? But there’s more to the story, check it out!!!?

Last night on Yahoo Answers I was expierencing a tingly feeling in my leg. Soon after, I think what I had was a panic attack. The next morning, this morning, I wake up and have another attack, I was scared for no real reason, just I was panicing. I called my sycologist and he couldn’t see me untill the 22nd. So instead, I saw my Normal Doctor and he wrote me 30 days worth of lexapro to hold me over till’ I get to my sycologist (Lexapro is Medicine used for depression but 2 years ago I was taking it for anxiety, my sycologist told me it was for anxiety also). So now, it’s hard for me to think, I can think, but I gotta work harder at trying to think. Also, I can see perfectly but since its harder for me to think, it’s also harder for me to realise what I’m seeing is actually exsisting. I haven’t picked up my perscription yet but what I’m trying to ask is, do you think I have some kind of virus or other chemical inbalance other than anxiety and some depression?

i cant help u much but my lady went through this same thing about 3 mos ago it was a terrabile ordeal excuse my spelling my advice to u is try not to sstay by urself during this crices try to understand that anxiety is mainly a fear of un explaining reason and yes she was put on lexapro also . she spent 5 days in a hosp ward for that its terrible yust have friends or some one close by u until it passes good luck to u from the bottom of my heart be well papawdj

Nope. if it was anything physical, your doctor would have picked up on it.

You do not have a virus. Part of having panic attacks is that your senses get out of wack. I suffered for about a year and a half with them. My thinking was clouded and I couldn’t make any decisions at that time. It was all stress related. Once I rid myself of the stress, it went away eventually.

I think you are disassociating. It’s that feeling that nothing is real, and it is related to anxiety.

Meditation is an alternative to drugs. At least for panic attacks.

You might, if a blood sugar imbalance can impact depression. Check out the symptoms link on http://www.hufa.org and see if you have more symptoms of low blood sugar in addition to depression/anxiety.

A moderate protein diet, with low glycemic fruits and veges, with moderate "good" fat may help, until you get to your doctor next week.

Hey…lexapro takes at least 4 to 6 weeks to get into your system enough for you to see a difference so I don’t know if that is going to help at the moment. I know what you are going through and it is hard. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder and anxiety also. Just take a breath and make sure you tell yourself that what you are feeling is irrational…repeat it if you have to. Look around and try to realize that everything is fine and there is nothing to be afraid of and no reason to panic. If you still need help focusing, call someone you love and trust that you know will listen to try to get your mind to calm down!!
