Now in 2009 I have been arrested for breaking a chair while I was trying to escape from the ER back in 2007. I have PTSD and suffer from severe panic disorder. I was in for a severe panic attack. They treated me, I was fine by 6:50pm and ready to leave. they kept saying they were waiting for tests results. Just a few minutes morre. My wife is terminal, she is at home, bedridden with the power out and a generator running. I came in at 6:09 pm less than 40 minutes later I was fine. I should have been released. At 10:30 a nurse came in and told me I was being committed for 30 days because I was suscidal. I was not suiscidal and I wasnt waiting for any tests. I was leaving to go home to my wife I didnt even see a chair I was heading for the exit. I tried to get to my truck but was too doped up from what they gave me in the ER. I was then forced back into a small room for 4 more hours held against my will again while the Midland mental health came to pick me up. And take me to the mental health. Where I was released the next day Christmas. The hospital er claimed I was suscidal yet I came in on my own saying help me I think I am having a heart attack, I feel as if I am dying. Does that sound suscidal? The hospital lost 2 hours of er notes and lied even about me not having a ride home with me. He is the same person who brought me in. At 7pm he could have driven me home so I could be with my wife and to celabrate Christmas with the family. But some nurse on a major power trip messed up everything. I complained to the hospital told them I would sue them. They did not make me pay almost 8000 in Dr. bills but have now had me arrested for breaking the chair and writing a nasty letter to the hospital telling them how I felt. Not a threatening letter a nasty letter. What do I do now I am facing 90 days in jail with no one to care for my wife over a 100$ chair I would have paid for if they would have let me know I even broke it. And by the way since 2007 because of what the ER did to me that evening I have lost my car, van home business am now on total disability and medications because I can not go out in public agoraphobia. And bankrupt. So you can be held against your will in ER.

This doesn’t make sense. Also…what is your question?

How did being detained against your will for one night cause you to go bankrupt and lose everything? I don’t doubt that you have a legitimate complaint, but you clearly have some mental health issues that may be clouding your judgment and need to be dealt with.

You need to be in a padded ER.

I would get a lawyer if I could afford it, get one that is recommended, should be an easy case to win, also I would not go back to that er, best of luck,

Absolutely. I know this first hand. If you think you may harm yourself or someone else they can hold you and have you committed. Breaking the chair, no matter its cost was showing them you were out of control.

Does your wife have anyone else to take care of her. Perhaps assisted living would work for her until you get out.

After all your nonsensical rambling, you finally got to the question (that has nothing to do with the text). Yes, in some states hospitals have the authority to temporarily commit you, against your will.
