it depends on the severity of it, there are many alternatives to being put on pills, like doing breathing exercises. you should talk to a doctor about it to find out how servere and get some info on it.

You don’t need medication for a panic attack – a brown, paper bag will suffice, the sit yourself down with a nice warm drink, call some one who cares about you for a chat and take care of yourself.

Try not to start on the meds because you will have a hard time getting off of them in the future. I had panic attacks and they were really affecting my day to day life. I was referred by my family doctor to a doctor who was licensed in hypnotherapy (an MD not just a hypnotist) and even though I was highly skeptical I was at the point I’d try anything to help me get rid of the panic attacks. I ended up being able to deal with them after just 3 sessions with the hypnotherapy. It sounds unbelievable but it is absolutely true. Ask your doctor about that and at least keep an open mind and give it a try. You have nothing to lose….except the panic attacks!

if your panic attack are often then yes there are meds for that but you may also be having anxiety attack which are almost the same thing. you may have a condition for chronic panic or anxiety attacks in which case you would need to bring up that to your doctor

one panic attack is not a reason to medicate. The circumstances around it need to be looked at. You may want to try seeing a psychologist and discuss behavior modification.

No, you don’t need any meds. Some people have an occasional panic attack which might not be considered serious. Some people, have them all the the time, and this can be a serious problem. If you’re having them often or constantly afraid you’ll have another one
