Is it a panic attack?

Hi. Can anyone help.

Increasingly over the last few months I’ve been having very strange moments. Hard to describe, but basically one or two seconds of feeling absolutely desperate and afraid, with an urge to do something physical like pushing over a table or punching a wall. I get a weird feeling in my chest a bit like when you’re at the top of a dip on a roller-coaster and even in such a short period of time my eyes well up with tears.

My instinct tells me they could be panic attacks, but all the info I’ve found on the net suggest that genuine attacks last for at least a minute – mine are never more than about 3 seconds but I get them 50 times a day or so. Also I don’t get the feeling of impending death. Does anyone have an suggestions?

Yes it is a panic attack. Find yourself a good psychiatrist who can help you with this. I get the same feelings too; but I only get the anger part if I have to go out in public.

Add*** The duration of a P/A isn’t necessarily the same for everyone. That is just the most common time amount. Mine are relentless and put me in bed all day

you need to check this. I suffer from this attacks too.
i get desperate and start crying, feel like a heart attack, face and hands feel numb. I still don’t know what cause it. And yes i felt i was going to die.
i don’t get violent!

Better go to phychiatrist and tell her/him the problems you are having.

I was at a Mental Hospital cause i wanted help. I only find out I only suffer from depression and insomnia.

Yes, is sounds like a panic attack. I use to get these ALOT after my spouse past away. You are not alone my friend, maybe talking to a doctor JUST to give you a better understanding and "maybe" meds on a temporiary basis could help.
