Is medication needed for panic attacks?
Honestly it depends on the person. Many people who think they are having panic attacks are just having a "moment" and once passed they are fine. If you are indeed having panic attacks medication would help so that the panic attack would not last as long and not be as severe.
Keep in mind though that if you are having regular panic attacks that it may be an anxiety problem that causes them. If this is the case several medications are out there for daily use. Then should a panic attack still occur most doctors will give you a rx for a quick acting medication.

Depends on the severity of your attacks. I personally have to take Xanax. I have passed out, loss feelings in my hands and feet by hyperventilating, my mind wont stop racing, I am irritable so in my case yes.

If you’re seeing a therapist, they will be able to ascertain if you need medication or not. I saw a therapist for several months before I finally went to a psychiatrist who put me on Lexapro.
Don’t allow the panic attacks to go on. There is real help that can make it go away…cause living with panic SUCKS!

like i said if it bugs you, you can try benadryl if it does not work you can go to doctor and ask for xanax, or ativan, or valium etc.

It helps but isn’t needed. Just the realization that it’s a panic attack and not something more serious is, usually, a big help in my experience. But medication will definitely help. Therapy is, probably, the better way to go. They might want to try medication but that will be up to the therapist.
