Is there a way to overcome panic attacks or is there a cure and something that can help me with it?
I have had panic attacks for only 1 year and I hate them, they make me so depressed and scared. I was just wanting to kow if there is anyway of overcoming them? Right now I am seeing a doctor and a shrink, my doctor has me on prozac and xanax ( I just now started taking the prozac), I just want to know if there is anything or anyway of overcoming them and stop having them?
First of all, put up the gloves my friend because Panic Attacks are a nightmare and you can kill it!!! Search into the WEB and understand what are those, how you get them and how to get rid of those.
First of all, try to seek help with a MD using Zoloft … its great, then kill the ghost of PANIC ATTACKS … it always happen out of the blue … and from there all the attacks will be based on the fear of having them again .. so when you see that Panic Ghost coming at you: look him in the eye and don’t fear, you won’t die and you won’t pass out! it’s only mental not physical … therefore, fight! use a notebook to write all the symptoms so you can identify them. Then when you feel like you are having the fear of experiencing one, just laugh and tell yourself: here it comes again to fool me … and try to relax … look down or just close your eyes until you gain control … be stronger than it and then let that Panic Nightmare rule your life !!!

You are doing all that you can to stop them. It will take a while for the Prozac to kick in. The only other advice I have that helped me is not to fear panic attacks. When you start to feel like one is coming on don’t get scared, just tell yourself "o.k. lets get it over with, I’ve done this before". Chances are if you don’t get so worked up about it it will pass. Good luck, hang in there you will get through this!

ive dealt with panic attacks for a year until i got diagnosed. they are horrible i admit, its the worst experience in the world. the prozac and xanax will help. the prozac might take awhile for it to work thats why you have the xanax. i was prescribed zoloft and klonopins. the zoloft didnt work it made me really depressed. i started using effexorXR. it works great with panic. i still suffer with anxiety but i can deal with that as long as i dont have another panic attack. also just so you know prozac does make you gain weight so watch what you eat and make sure you exercise. hope you feel better soon!

Klonopin (clonazepam) is the usual medication prescribed for panic attacks. It does not ‘kick in’ as fast as Xanax, but it stays in your system for many more hours. I have gotten into the habit of taking one an hour before I need to leave the house.
Prozac has done wonders for many people (I am not one of those–I had a bad reaction). It does take from 2 weeks to 1 month to get thoroughly into the system–and the doctor may need to adust the doseage several times.
Xanax helps a lot–but only for a couple of hours. This means that if you are out for the entire day you may need to take a few.
Keep your doctor informed of how the meds are working, and don’t miss any appointments with him/her. Doctors are never absolutely certain which patients can have good results with which medications.

Panic attacks occur after severe depression allowed a psychotic event to create them. The auto brain interfered with the thinking brains when the waste chemical was in the spinal fluids at too high a level. Only a long time dwindling effect or a strong emotion like a new love will over power the logic patch of the depression pains. Avoid the triggers of your panic and study how depression occurs after your beliefs have been overturned in life. We cant avoid depression but we can spread it out over time.

Absolutely. Therapy is the best aid. Failing that, tackle something that makes you anxious and defeat it. You can do it. What makes you the most anxious? When do these attacks usually occur? What is happening when they occur?

I have had them off and on for almost 40 years. I found that recently they got worse and more frequent because of anti-depressants. I quit the drugs and realized a couple of things:
1. Panic attacks can’t harm you.
2. You are not alone.
3. Making small events into catastrophe’s creates panic.
4. Abusing alcohol can increase panic attacks.
5. Breathing exercises and meditation can make you feel
better.
