Is there any effective medication for agoraphobia/ panic attacks?
I need to get a job and get on with my life, but how can I do that when simply driving to the store sends me on a hellish fit of fear and panic? I cant even get to the doctors easily….
If you were once a sufferer and found treatment, your opinion would be most valid.
YES!!!
I take klonopin and prozac……they have been life savers. go see a psychiatrist, they know the meds, if they arent working, what to switch you to next, if need be.

Yes there is treatment, you can go natural, like me, or you can go to the doctors and get meds. It is a personal choice. I decided natural because I had read all the stuff about what meds can do, so I tried this option first. I went to a councellor and a naturopath who gave me St Johns wort, in a herbal form, also put oats in it for calming. Also carried around with me Rescue Remedy and put 10 drops in a bottle of water and sipped on that whenever I went out(which wasn’t often), I read a lot of self help books. Find yourself a really good herbalist/naturopath and they will help you. I suffered for 2 years before I finally got some relief, now I am almost over it. But it comes back at times so I have stuff on hand all the time.
Best of luck to you as I know how you are feeling, hope you get some relief soon.It is a slow and steady road and you WILL get there!.
Take care
God Bless

There are two types of medication that help relieve panic and intense anxiety:
Antidepressants – Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and tricyclic antidepressants are both used in the treatment of panic disorder. Antidepressants have been shown to reduce or eliminate panic attacks. However, it takes several weeks before they begin to work, so they are not helpful if first taken during an acute panic episode.
Benzodiazepines – These anti-anxiety drugs act very quickly (usually within 30 minutes to an hour). The rapid relief they provide makes them effective when taken during a panic attack. Benzodiazepines are highly addictive and have serious withdrawal symptoms, so they should be used only sparingly
