i feel quiet anxious wen i go out side or for a car journey and then all of a sudden i feel panicky but instead of having other symptoms i get like a sudden panic and have to go to the toilet i have been suffering form panic attacks for 10 years now and was wondering is this another side effect of them.

no it sounds like you’re scared of open spaces or going away from your home. do you feel as though you physically need to go to the toilet (bladder) or you feel better when you’re in the room/cubicle?

forgotten name of phobia.. um agoraphobia?

maybe you are just agoraphobic. It would make sense if you are scared when you go outside and find comfort in tiny spaces like bathrooms

I think this is a symptom of Social Anxiety Disorder. When I was younger, and I had to go somewhere, my stomach would churn and I would have to run to the bathroom…

I have gotten better though. Now I just have to pee sometimes when I get nervous….

I have had panic attacks for 33 years and was housebound for 7 of them. Yes bowel movements are a symptom of panic and anxiety.

It is common to get the sudden urge to go to the loo as a symptom of anxiety or panic. It is a natural response… you know the ‘fight or flight’ situation? When you have anxiety or panic attacks, it is the fight or flight kicking in, but usually at an innappropriate time. Emptying the bladder and bowels aids the body in being able to run quicker… so when the anxiety kicks in, you need to go to the loo. Addressing your anxiety by learning relaxation techniques will help you to get over the fear and the resulting symptoms.

Its down to fear. It screws us all up from time to time. Best attitude is to say to yourself what is there to fear? The worst that could happen is that you die, and that aint so bad.
