My stress level is very high now, marriage and financial problems. I quit drinking alcohol 18 days ago after 9 months of drinking every other day hardcore. My stress sensors are very weak, it does not take much before I have a panic attack, 115-120 heart rate, lots of anxiety everyday. Is this from stress and alcohol withdrawal? What can I do or take to get is issue under-control it is really effecting my life big time?

Get to a doctor. Tell him what’s going on. Tell him everything you told us. You need meds to calm you down, or meds and some therapy. You cannot handle this all on your own. You need help. Get to the doctor, and get to church if you can.

I have been taking aderal for a year and a half and I get these kinds of panic attacks all day long.
You shouldn’t take anything because all they will prescribe you is pills that are so difficult to stop their all addicting been there done that.
When you feel your heart going fast step aside from what your doing take a deep breath count to 20 and think of a place where you’ve been that makes you feel relax I always think of the bahamas.
If you crave drinking go watch a movie go hangout with friends or family.
But trust me do not get any thing prescribed!

I would assume alcohal withdrawls. the same as quitting smoking, which im doing still kinda of right now. Your body thinks it needs it to function normally and when it doesn’t get it it will effect you by hyping things up in your brain and distorting them in your mind meaning everything will seem alot worse then it really is, this should go away and get better in the next few weeks though if you stay away from the stuff. Also I don’t know anything about your problems that you said but if you can do anything to help them I’d try to take those steps, talk about these feelings with your spouse especially.

Sorry for what you are going through man, I use to suffer panic attacks big time. They can be very frightening. Congrats on stopping the drinking, even if stopping irritates your problems a little now, it will be much better in the long run for your health and peace of mind if you are not drinking every day.

Some anxiety and panic attacks can be helped with medicines and talking to a counselor. Usually they work themselves out a little over time and become less and less frequent, at least mine did.

But some practical things I did that seemed to help were: drinking lots of water, taking a warm shower, listen to peaceful "elevator" type music, watch some light hearted stuff on tv, take a long drive, go to a park or someplace outside where there were not many people and just kind of relax, read books, stretch and get some cardio exercise or lifted weights, even cleaning up the house and finding ways to reduce clutter.

Also, just realize that everything you are going through, millions and millions of good people have gone through. Extremely successful, good looking, rich people, as wellt as average everyday people- people from all walks of life have financial and marital stresses. They are not fun, but you are not alone. Good luck to you man and keep your head up. You are very likely in the worst part of your stress and anxieties right now. I have had some of the happiest, most enjoyable, clear-headed years of my life after a long bout with intense depression and anxiety, so I know it happens. Good luck.
