MY 15 Y/O ISNT FEELING HERSELF,,,IM HEARTBROKEN?
MY DAUGHTER WOKE UP ONE NIGHT LAST WEEK AT 3 AM AND TOLD ME SHE DIDNT FEEL GOOD. SHE HAD RAPID HEARTBEAT, BRAIN FOG, FEELING SOMEWHAT DETACHED FROM HERSELF AND TOLD ME TO BRING HER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM..ALL TESTS CAME OUT OK,,,THEY TOLD ME SHE HAD A PANIC ATTACK AND GAVE ME THE LOWEST DOSE ZANAX FOR HER, WHICH IN TURN CALMED EVERYTHING DOWN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HER. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO SHE HAD A LOT OF ANXIETY SYMPTONS THEN GOT THE FLU WHICH WAS UNUSUAL BECAUSE AFTER SHE GOT THE FLU SHE NEVER HAD ANOTHER ANXIETY EPISODE UNTIL LAST WEEK WHICH WAS 6 MONTHS LATER,,,SO AFTER THE EMERGENCY ROOM EXPERIENCE WE WENT HOME FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS SHES FINE THEN ONCE IN A WHILE SHE DOESNT FEEL RIGHT…SHE HAS A GREAT SOCIAL CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, VERY PRETTY, HIGH IQ. SHES A FIGHTER LIKE ME. I HAVE ABOUT 6 LOW DOSE ZANAX PILS FOR HER IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY WHEN SHES IN THE MALL WITH HER FRIENDS SHE CAN TAKE IT. SHE DOESNT LIKE PILLS AT ALL BUT TOLD ME IF SHE HAS TO SHE WILL..I FOR ONE REFUSE TO GIVE HER ANTI-DEPRRESSANTS BECAUSE PSYCHIATRISTS THROW THAT RIGHT IN YOUR FACE.. THERE ARE TO MANY RISKS AND SUICIDAL TENDENCIES RANK HIGH AMONGST TEENAGERS..MY DAUGHTER IS IN THERAPY WHICH HELPS TEENS TO COPE AND THE SUCH…MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT TAKE DRUGS, SMOKE POT ECT..SHES A GOOD KID BUT….I CANT COMPREHEND THIS WHEN SHE FEELS NOT HERSELF IF BOTHERS ME AND I COMFORT HER IN EVERY WAY I CAN…MY CONCLUSION IS "SPORADIC ANXIETY" AND IS ZANAX OK AND NOTHING ELSE WHEN SHE NEEDS THIS. I CANT STAND THE IDEA OF ANTI-DEPRESSANTS…
wow, ya that is a tough one. i too am kinda in the same boat, as ur daughter. i have had panic attacks also, have major anxiety issues, and do NOT want to go on meds, even though my husband thinks i should do so. i just don’t like all the side affects. i would maybe get a second opinion, although they will prob tell you the same thing. just be there for her as much as you can, spend alot of time w/ her and let her know you care.
