Today, HR department of my work, KFC saying yes they want to know what medications I take, but they need my consent to ask my Psychiatrist. They have emailed me a notice, that I have to sign. I told them they have to ask my Psychiatrist directly (that is what my Psychiatrist told me to do). But I think I should show him first, I actually don’t want to tell them what meds I take now, since I already tried to tell them, I fear they are trying to set me up for something worse, as I am 6 months into a Human Rights case against them for harassment/discrimination towards me. As you might know from my previous questions, I am also going through trying to start communication again from my estranged family, whom its been 3 years, when I was "kick out of the family". But, anyway, my medications I take, are Dexedrine (for ADHD), Atarax (for Daytime Anxiety), and Chlorpromazine (for Nocturnal Anxiety/ Panic Attacks). Today at work, I didn’t say a word to anyone for 7.5 hrs. What do I do?

Unless they are going to make you take a formal random drug test related to your job or they tell you EXACTLY WHY they need to know this, DON’T sign anything or give them any information about the medications you take or what they are for.

Your medication is something between YOU AND YOUR DR. and unless you want to give them a list (in case there is an emergency and you must be given a dose) and if they keep pressing you for it, press right back and tell them to give you the drug test and MAKE THEM PAY FOR IT ON THEIR DIME.

If they try to fire you, call or go to your local Dept of Labor office (you can find their phone number in the very front Government section) and file a complaint against them (or even call them for legal advice of what to do.)

It’s against the law for them to demand that and threaten your job. Do not sign that form… they’ll use it against you.

if you’re in america, there are hipaa laws that protect your private info and you don’t have to disclose it. if they need to know for liability reasons or something, ask your hr department if you can just get your doctor to let them know that you are not taking anything that will affect you judgement or ability to operate machinery or something like that.

I am like 95 % sure that is illegal – it’s none of there business! I’d talk to a lawyer ( anyone can give you free legal advice ) and in the meantime I’d try to look for another job where you’ll be appreciated… Hope everything works out for ya!

Make sure that you keep copies of ALL correspondence in case you need it for court.
Tell your attorney what they are doing and may I recommend you start looking for another job since it sounds like they are looking for a reason to fire you.
Don’t talk to anyone accept your lawyer.

If you are in the middle of any kind of a lawsuit, tell them to talk to the lawyer.

They can require your psychiatrist to confirm that you are being treated to handle something, but I seriously doubt that they can pry into exactly what you are taking.
