I am having a panic attack related to OCD thoughts, does anyone have anything helpful or encouaraging to say?

I know all of the technigues & I’m working on my breathing. My panic attacks have increased in number for the past few weeks & I have taken Xanax a few times already this week & I don’t want to take them all of the time because I don’t want to become addicted to them. I also take Zoloft 100mg daily. I just would like to know if anyone could say something encouraging or helpful until it passes. I’m a SAHM & I have 3 children 2 very young here with me at the moment. Thanks.

Everything will be okay, think about something positive. Take a deep breath in slowly and out and remember who you are and were you are. Nothing bad will happen to you, it will soon pass.

Did my panic attack mean something?

This guy I was with over the weekend —known him for 4 years off and on dating… etc.

He told me he was ready to be married and sees me as special wants..me… etc…

Then the next morning during breakfast I got nauseous and started panicking…

Do you think I started panicking because he said he wanted to marry me? Most women would be thrilled… i’m terrified!!

It took me some time to think about why I was panicking, but it’s because the emotions were overwhelming..

Any insight would help. Thx!

I can see how thoughts of terror could lead to a panic attack…

How can i stop having panic attacks?

just the other day i had a really bad panic attack i felt like i was dieing it was horrible is there anyway i can stop this happining its happend twice nw also it used to happen when i was younger when my dad left x

You may be more prone to panic attacks if you have depression or anxiety, asthma or diabetes, are taking stimulants (energy drinks or coffee and caffeine).

To get rid of the panic attacks you might want to reduce your exposure to unnecessary stress. Find ways to express your needs and assert yourself more successfully or change your lifestyle by taking regular exercise. Avoid stimulants, such as cigarettes and alcohol. Eat regular meals and avoid processed foods and drinks..

Don’t bottle up your emotions. Find someone to confide in, such as a family member or a friend. Focus on the positive aspects of your life. If you feel an attack coming on, try to distract yourself with a pleasurable task.

Also don’t depend on others for reassurance. Tell yourself you’re not dying or going mad. It’s better to rely on yourself than others.

Accept and face your feelings during an attack. They will become less intense.

What can I do when i have these panic attacks?

I avoid getting serious with any man because I have a panic attack when they get close to me. I don’t eat certain foods or drink certain things because I’m afraid of receiving a disease. I currently take buspar twice a day and it does help alot but it doesn’t take all the symptoms away.

The safest thing you can do is go back and talk to your doctor. Tell him/her exactly what you have put in your post.
It can take up to two weeks before any improvement in symptoms is seen when taking Buspar. Don’t stop taking it suddenly if you have had this medication for a while, you need to stop taking it gradually to avoid withdrawal effects.
Would your doctor cinsider a referral for
Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT)…
This is a type of specialist ‘talking’ treatment. It is probably the most effective treatment. Cognitive therapy is based on the idea that certain ways of thinking can trigger, or ‘fuel’, certain mental health problems such as panic attacks. A combination of CBT and antidepressants and may work better than either treatment alone.

do your panic attacks happen almost daily?
can they ever go away?
how do you cope with them?

my panic attacks sometimes scare me to the point where i dont want to be alone. i physically hurt and i am afraid of what is going on with my body to the point where i think all about my past… like, THIS incedent is what is causing my chest pain, THIS is why my veins seem big or hurt… etc. normal?

I suffer from the exact same problem. Randomly throughout the day i would/still do become overwhelmed with anxiety. My heart beat increases, and then i notice that and it fuels on itself and develops into a panic attack that leaves me pacing around and embarrassing myself… Trust me i have been there. Your panics attacks can go away if you know how to anticipate them.

Mine became so bad i went to a cardiologist to get my heart checked, and i went and got blood drawn because i thought i had a brain tumor from anxiety headaches.

Your fear of being alone is agoraphobia. It is very common.

Anyways, to stop a panic attack, breathe in very deeply and hold it for a few seconds and then breathe back out deeply and slowly. Repeat this for a few minutes and think of yourself in a very peaceful location. For some reason, an empty church works best for me. Im not even a religious person… Its just the thought of me entering this great large structure that is completely empty and talking to God is very peaceful and calming to me. Try it, it really does help.

Also, i recommend going to a psychologist if it becomes so bad that you cannot cope with it and it is affecting your everyday life, like it was mine. I now take xanax xr every day. It stops the anxiety from occurring in the first place so i can continue with my life, uninterrupted. Before medicine, try other techniques though.

I really understand what you are going through and it is very very tough. Be strong, and do not let it take over. Talk to a few people you trust and are close to if you need help with it. I wish you the best of luck.

how can i control my panic attack?

i seem to get them when i am driving

First, you should talk to your doctor about them and see if there is a medical reason that can be addressed.

Second, try to identify situations while driving that seem to set them off so you can be aware and possibly avoid those situations until you have a cause for the attacks and they can be controlled.

If you do have an attack, concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply, open a car window to let in fresh air if that helps and pull over as soon as it is safe. Remind yourself that you are aware of what is happening and you are in control and take control of the situation as best you can.

My stress level is very high now, marriage and financial problems. I quit drinking alcohol 18 days ago after 9 months of drinking every other day hardcore, I am not sleeping good at all, waking up 5-7 times a night. My stress sensors are very weak, it does not take much before I have a panic attack, 115-120 heart rate, lots of anxiety everyday. Is this from stress and alcohol withdrawal? What can I do or take to get is issue under-control it is really effecting my life big time?

I feel like I’ve just ran a marathon, I feel drained, I feel like my heads are quite literally in the clouds(like I’m in a dream-like state), I feel tired now… Did I just go through a panic attack or just the aftermath of a moderate anxiety attack?

1. Panic attack and anxiety attack are the same thing.
2. You would have noticed if you had had a panic attack–some people think they’re having a heart attack because it’s so scary.
